"Misinformation about electric vehicles.
If you see this image followed by text explaining how this Tesla Model Y battery image is terrible for the environment, know that there are many falsification in the text. One clue that should give you the buzzer ear is this: there is NO link to the evidence in the misinformation text!
Here are 7.
False #1 - This is the image of a 2023 Tesla Model Y battery.
Truth #1 - This is NOT the battery image found in most Tesla Model 3 and Ys today. This is what a Tesla Model Y battery looks like today.

Fake #2 - "5 tons of cobalt minerals (most cobalt is manufactured as a by-product of copper and nickel ore treatment.) This is the most difficult material hard to get for a battery and more pricey. )"
Truth #2 - A basic Tesla Model Y battery uses exactly 0% cobalt.
For those who are concerned about the human impact of cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo, be aware that cobalt is used for many products such as:
- Gasoline or diesel for internal combustion engines: These fuels can only be sold after being refined with catalysts containing cobalt compounds that reduce emissions of sulphur and nitrous oxide. So if you run an internal combustion engine car, you can't do without cobalt, whether you want it or not.
- The batteries of some electric vehicles: Some electric vehicles are actually equipped with cobalt batteries. However, you can choose to get an electric car with less cobalt or 0% cobalt. GM’s new Ultium battery uses 70% less cobalt than their previous-generation batteries while Tesla and Ford now offer several of their electric vehicles with cobalt-free batteries.
Cobalt is also used for many products such as:
- The laptops
- Inflatable vehicle cushions
- Cellular phones
- The integrated circuits
- The Semi-Drivers

Fake #3 - "3 tons of nickel ore"
Truth #3 - A basic Tesla Model Y battery uses exactly 0% nickel.
Fake #4 - "48.5 lbs of manganese"
Truth #4 - A basic Tesla Model Y battery uses exactly 0% manganese.

False #5 - "A large part of the mining work in Africa is carried out by children!
Truth #5 - This is absolutely false since most Tesla batteries are made up of iron and phosphate which can be extracted anywhere and children are not involved in the extraction of iron and Phosphate.
False #6 - "It takes SEVEN years for an electric car to reach a net zero CO2 content."
Truth #6 - Once again, it's false. In a study conducted by the University of Michigan, the pollution equation is between 1.4 and 1.5 years for sedans, 1.6 to 1.9 years for SUVs, and about 1.6 years for vans.

False #7 - "Battery life is 10 years (on average). "
Truth #7 - Also False. The average Canadian drives about 15,350 km per year. After 320,000 km, the average loss of autonomy of a Tesla battery was about 12%. So instead of a 20 year life expectancy... and more.

The truth is, in its lifetime, a gasoline car will waste 300 to 400 TIMES MORE resources than an equivalent electric car. Why? Because unlike extracted petroleum which is recyclable at exactly 0%, battery components are recyclable at 95%. In other words, with lithium, iron, phosphate necessary to manufacture a Tesla Model 3 or Y battery, new batteries can be remade, which reduces the ecological impact of electric vehicles.
Try to reuse the burnt oil to make new oil. You'll let me know
