Audio Research Corporation (ARC) introduces new products quite often, but it’s not every day that they launch an entirely new line. But they used RMAF to do just that. The first product in the new Definition Series is the DSi200 integrated amplifier that's $5995 and is quite unlike any other ARC product we've seen.

Although ARC is best known for their tube products, you'll only find solid-state devices here. The DSi200 features a proprietary digital output stage coupled to a traditional analog power supply. ARC made a point of saying that the digital section was developed entirely in-house, and is not an off-the-shelf design. The preamplifier stage is completely passive. The result is a 200Wpc power output rating in a unit that runs extremely cool and is said to offer sound quality that is said to be "very un-solid-state-like." ARC reps said that they're working on a stereo power amplifier for the Definition Series that uses the same technology and will output 500Wpc into 8 ohms.

The DSi200 features two sets of balanced inputs and three sets of single-ended inputs. What you don’t see on the rear panel is the Energy Star rating that the DSi200 received -- it idles at a mere 38W. Maybe ARC should consider a green faceplate for the DSi200.

Στην ουσία ένας διακοπτικός τελικός με παθητική προενίσχυση.

Tώρα που τους τελείωσε η Tripath αναγκάστηκε να στραφεί σε άλλα διακοπτικά η Audio Research.
Υποτίθεται αναπτύχθηκε in-house η συγκεκριμένη τεχνολογία αλλά I doubt it..
Κάτσε να βάλουν φωτογραφίες από άλλες γωνίες και χωρίς τις ψύκτρες και θα δούμε..

It’s easy to miss things at RMAF and I was so busy admiring the Vandersteen 7/ARC setup that I nearly overlooked the first US appearance of Audio Research’s DSi200, a high power solid state integrated amp equipped with remote control, three single-ended intputs and a pair of balanced inputs. It’s a beauty, with ARC’s classic chunky lines. It combines a hefty analog, linear power supply with a discrete MOSfet-based switching output stage of ARC’s own design. Terry Dorn of ARC describes it as a different kind of “hybrid” that uses a regulated analog power supply with a high-speed switching output stage— but all solid-state. And the DSi200 does not rely on any OEM modules or pre-manufactured components such as those found in designs from other “Class D” manufacturers. The resulting amplifier puts out 200 Wpc continuous into 8 ohms (300W into 4 ohms) with very high efficiency energy conversion — over 90% -- and almost no heat. And, says Dorn, it draws very little power at idle. In fact, it’s so efficient that it achieved an “Energy Star” rating — unusual for this industry and for a high-powered amplifier. Man, I’d love to hear this baby soon. Price: $5995

Mουράτος ο λευκός πυρήνας.. Τι να είναι άραγε; Έχει περάσει αντίστοιχος από το 41Hz forum (υπάρχει thread με αντίστοιχες δοκιμές) αλλά δεν θυμάμαι..

Τα συγκεκριμένα φοράνε Texas Instruments ενώ η Audio Research φαίνεται να έχει πάει σε διακριτό κύκλωμα.
