Based on the Radical Studios graphic novel "Hercules: The Thracian Wars," the ensemble-action film is a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist. The screenplay is by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Rufus Sewell joins Brett Ratner's Hercules

Brett Ratner's upcoming Hercules has found a new cast member in Dark City star Rufus Sewell. He'll play Autolycus opposite Dwayne Johnson's Hercules and Aksel Hennie's Tydeus.

Ian McShane and more cast in Brett Ratner's Hercules

The cast continues to grow for Brett Ratner's upcoming Hercules movie as The Hollywood Reporter says that Ian McShane (Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) has been cast as Amphiarus. The character is called "part priest, part prophet and part warrior who is Hercules’ counselor."


Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), John Hurt (V for Vendetta), and Rebecca Ferguson (The White Queen) have also been cast in unspecified roles.These four join a cast that already included Rufus Sewell as Autolycus, Aksel Hennie as Tydeus, and Dwayne Johnson as the titular Hercules.

Dwayne Johnson teases his Hercules look




"It's a little early for this," one of Dwayne Johnson's publicists grimaces as the G.I. Joe: Retaliation star pulls out his cell phone at a roundtable interview for the March 28 release.


Johnson just grins. He's got a photo from his costume fitting for the upcoming Hercules and he's got no problem sharing it with the room. Sadly, we're not able to show off the actual image, but be prepared for a surprising new look for the blockbuster star. The best way to describe his Hercules is as if The Rock were cosplaying Mickey Rourke's Whiplash from Iron Man 2. He's got long hair and a long black beard on top of his characteristically massive physique. There's no telling if that's his costume throughout the film, but it's definitely a look that will surprise fans.

Antje Traue joins Brett Ratner's Hercules

Director Brett Ratner took to Twitter today to announce the latest bit of casting for his upcoming Hercules film and it's none other than Man of Steel's Antje Traue. Though he didn't say which role she would play, she joins an ensemble cast that includes Dwayne Johnson in the title role along with Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Aksel Hennie, Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, and Rebecca Ferguson.

Reece Ritchie joins Brett Ratner's Hercules

Deadline is reporting that The Lovely Bones and Prince of Persia actor Reece Ritchie has signed on for Brett Ratner's Hercules. Ritchie will play the role of Iolaus, who is a poet and Hercules' nephew, and will reportedly pick up a sword and fight alongside with his uncle in the film. Ritchie joins an ensemble cast that includes Dwayne Johnson in the title role along with Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Aksel Hennie, Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, Antje Traue, and Rebecca Ferguson.

It was announced yesterday that Brett Ratner's Hercules officially started production with Dwayne Johnson in the titular role. Tobias Santelmann will fight Dwayne Johnson in Hercules

Kon-Tiki star Tobias Santelmann has joined Brett Ratner's upcoming Hercules film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Santelmann will play the lead villain in the film, a character named Rhesus. Santelmann's character is described as "a golden-locked barbarian and revolutionary" who will go toe-to-toe with Dwayne Johnson's Hercules in the movie.
