Marantz has just revealed details on its latest home cinema receiver: the THX Select II certified 7.1 SR7002 – complete with two HDMI 1.3a outputs for simple digital source switching.
Costing around £1000, the SR7002 boasts 110W output for each of its seven channels of audio, and adds a number of other elements over and above its SR7001 predecessor. These include the second HDMI already mentioned, but there’s also Marantz’s Dynamic Audio eXpander circuitry for boosting the sound quality from iPods and other MP3 players. You also get a ‘sub’ remote, the RC101, to support the fact that the SR7002 can route digital video signals to a ‘second zone’ in addition to the main viewing area; and Audyssey’s excellent auto-calibration system.
