”The Sagem Axium HD-D56B boasts the company’s largest screen size to date – a massive, unique 56 inches of home cinema heaven with stunning picture quality.

DLP™ technology has really come into its own in the last few months, DLP™ offers superior picture quality with no blurring of fast moving images, screen burn from channel logos and gaming or loss of brightness meaning the picture quality will be consistently sharp and deliver the deepest blacks and truest colours for around 100,000 hours.

Sagem is a serious contender in this market - GFK figures at the end of 2004 revealed the company had a 62% share in the DLP™ sector with just a single, 50 inch screen - the award winning Axium HD-D50 - even though they had been warned that ‘it is too big and will never sell’. Committed to promoting home cinema and increasing their market share the company are confident that the launch of the new HD-D56B will open up even more opportunities.

Joe Gurney, Vision Marketing Manager said “Home cinema is a serious business and now with the benefits and competitive prices of DLP™ technology people can afford to embrace first class products which are future proof and ready for HDTV. It’s a bold move for us to launch such a huge screen but our research – and experience with the HD-D50 - has shown that size does matter!

“The Sagem Axium range features DVI connectivity which is HDCP enabled and boasts a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 – 1 million pixels per colour. Perfect image quality is guaranteed with anti-reflection coating on the screen, a wide viewing angle of 140 degrees and DCDi image processing by Faroudja.”

DLP™ technology really comes into its own on a big screen, the picture quality beats most equivalent plasma and LCD screens but has the added advantage of longevity, with a lamp lifespan of around 100,000 viewing hours. The loss of brightness is only 20% over 3-4 years but can easily be restored by replacing the lamp, which reverts the picture brightness back to 100% clarity as it was on day one, compared to that of plasma technology which can suffer a permanent loss of around 70% over a 6 year period.

The HD-D56B is encased in a chic piano black edging and is an all-in-one table top design cleverly concealing the integrated speakers in its base – it is also available with an optional matching stand unit.

Picture quality is unrivalled, 700cd/m2 brightness, 3000:1 contrast and DMD: HD2+ guaranteeing greater contrast and detail. There is a double tuner, a PC input and the sound is superb with Nicam Stereo, smart sound volume control and sound graphic equalizer.

Up to eight TV peripherals can be connected – eight video inputs and the all important DVI with HDCP control as well as an analogue VGA input.

Competitively priced the Sagem Axium HD-D56B will cost around £2,699 with the optional matching stand available at £299.
