"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" weaves together two of Frank Miller's classic stories with new tales in which the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants.

In "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to "The Big Fat Kill" (featured in the film "Frank Miller's Sin City") and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

Bruce Willis confirmed for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

A handful of the cast members from Robert Rodriguez's original Sin City are already confirmed to return for the sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but the one noticeable absence has been Bruce Willis. In an interview with MTV, Rodriguez confirmed that Willis will return in the film.


"Bruce is back, so you'll be seeing him."


He also spoke about newcomer Jospeh Gordon-Levitt's character and story in the film.


"It's a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story's called 'The Long, Bad Night.' He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him."


Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will be presented in 3D when it's released, and Rodriguez says it will blow our minds.


"We're really playing with stuff because that's a very two dimensional world and to see that stylization in 3D, it'll blow people's minds. 3D hasn't been used like this yet."

Eva Green to play Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For!

Dimension Films announced today that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have chosen Eva Green (Dark Shadows, 300: Rise of an Empire, Casino Royale, Kingdom Of Heaven) to star as the film's deadly muse, Ava Lord.


Ava, the iconic character from Miller's graphic novel of the same name, is described by Miller as "every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she's also every man's darkest nightmares."


Rodriguez and Miller said, "We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."


Eva Green joining the film rounds out the huge, all-star cast that Rodriguez and Miller have been assembling over the past few months. Robert Rodriguez took to Twitter today and tweeted the first behind-the-scenes photos for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For featuring Josh Brolin as Dwight, who was played by Clive Owen in the 2005 original.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

In Robert Rodriguez's upcoming crime noir sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a new character named Jonny in a segment called "The Long Bad Night," which isn't based on any of Frank Miller's existing comics, although we were curious whether Miller actually drew the story as a guideline before they started filming it.


Joseph Gordon-Levitt said that this wasn't the case compared to the previous movie.


"It's interesting. They wanted to have a movie where fans of the books would still be able to look forward to something new and unexpected, so they added a story. I remember being really intrigued by that and I was really looking forward to, ‘Oh that will be so interesting to have the actual comics to refer to as an actor' but no I didn't."

"I had a ball doing that, I loved doing that," he went on. "I mean, Robert Rodriguez is a guy whose movies I've liked for a long time and he has creativity pouring out of him."


He also told that though Jonny's a new character and story, he's firmly within the world of Sin City where other characters are likely to show up. "I saw Bruce and Mickey (Rourke) and I have a scene together, and Jessica (Alba). I was so stoked."

It's been a long, hard road for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City follow-up to get to theaters. After many years of delays, the film began production last October and was slated for an October 4, 2013 release. This has now changed, as Dimension Films has pushed back the film's release to August 22, 2014 instead. No other film currently holds that release date.
