SQUARE ONE

The basic Square One concept goal was to develop a point source type acoustic system that is universal and especially appropriate equipment for professional sound recording studio and capable to represent entire musical idea of the audio engineer flawlessly.

DESIGN GOALS

• To have a two way speaker design with frequency response from 36Hz to 20kHz
• In a relatively small enclosure ensure at least long-term SPL of 110 dB per speaker.
• Maximally approximated acoustic axis of HF and LF sources
• Provide with directional radiation down to low frequencies
• Acoustically controlled LF diffuser movement at low frequencies at maximum SPL and improved system efficiency
• Increase the steepness of the slope at x-over frequencies between LF and HF bands using acoustic design
• Move the x-over frequency to 650Hz where the band overlap effects are less audiable
• To develop a general method of acoustic wave radiation from LF and HF sources
• Enhanced a thermo-stability

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

As a result of the all ideas embedded in Square One concept we have created a two way professional reference monitor which is a combination of high sensitivity horn based HF design and resonance type LF design based on extremely long excursion 4 x 5.25" LF drivers per monitor together ensuring excellent transient response and very low non-linear distortions. The enclosure features triangular cavities on the sides carrying acoustic load, acoustic x-over and directional source radiator functions. All of the set and executed design goals ensure following features:

• Low linear and non-linear distortion levels
• Approximate the speaker system much closer to the point source type radiator of the acoustic waves.
• Tonal quality and character of the sound source is less affected in transition between LF and HF bands
• Greater acoustic power possible in a smaller enclosure design
• More versatile speaker placement possible due to horizontal and vertical directivity characteristics

Square One monitors are available for ordering starting from February 2015 and there are two types of visual design available. The black finish with laminated side panels of the choice and a standard black finish. The suggested retail price for a pair of the Square One`s is 8250 EUR excluding VAT.
