Two new audio-video preamp/processors have joined Classé Audio’s Delta line - the SSP-600 and SSP-300. The SSP-600 and SSP-300 are multichannel AV preamplifier/processors that combine video processing and routing with audio reproduction, including the full array of Dolby Digital and DTS multichannel modes.
The SSP-600 and SSP-300 are differentiated principally by the SSP-600’s balanced-audio design. The SSP-600 has a balanced input pair with analog volume control and 8 XLR balanced-out jacks for 7.1-channel connection to compatible amplifiers. Both models provide 7.1-channels of single-ended outputs using RCA connectors. Both new Classé preamplifier/processors also highlight the Delta range’s TFT color touchscreen displays, set into their radiused extruded-aluminum front panel. These deliver the user-friendly, self-prompting interface found in high-end audio and home theater today.
The new Classé designs also share a powerful digital signal-processing engine that delivers detailed and dynamic multichannel decoding from all formats.
The full range of Dolby Digital and DTS modes are all integrated with THX Ultra2 processing, so the Classé’s can be used on almost every discrete-multichannel format. The new preamplifier/processors also deliver Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS Neo:6 movies and music modes for solid performance from two-channel sources.
For video capabilities, both share video-signal designs that have wide bandwidth and maintain stable signal levels to provide quality signal with the full range of displays and inputs available today. Each offers three wideband component-video inputs with component monitor-output, as well as an array of five S-Video and four composite paths. Also, the SSP-300 and SSP-600 offer digital-domain video-format conversion, increasing the flexibility of system setup and switching options. In addition, each is supplied with a flexible IR remote controller.
The Classé SSP-300 and SSP-600 will be available in North America beginning this month, at MSRPs of $4,500, and $6,500 respectively.
