Custom a-pillar covers had to be built to cover the roll cage, so tape and foil were spray-glued over the area to protect it.

Fiberglass mat goes over the grille cloth along with fiberglass resin, strengthening the structure.







Dura-Glass and Rage Gold come next on the pillars, finalizing their shape. These will later be wrapped with suede.

The upper console was built using MDF and ABS plastic, and it was designed to hold two monitors, a gauge, and the air conditioner control.







The upper console was fitted to the a-pillar covers to make them integrate together.







A small insert was made on the top of the dash to hold the Defi heads-up display







Some paint on the dash really shows off the shape of the piece.

1/8" steel plates were welded to the rear hatch floor of our X5 in order to mount the side panels and amp rack..







This shot shows all four of the steel plates welded to the floor of the X5.







An MDF frame was built to create the shape of the X5's sidepanels, with flat MDF plates over the steel plates. Notice the bolt holes in the MDF plates, which would later be covered by the amp rack

Grille cloth and fiberglass mat were laid over the frame to build the structure of the side panels.







The two sidepanels are now fiberglassed, so next comes a layer of Dura-Glass. It's important to let these large panels dry for at least 8 hours before they are removed to avoid warpage.







After removing the sidepanels, each one is covered with a thin layer of Rage Gold body filler followed by a round of sanding with 36 grit sandpaper.







Tape and foil are applied over the area around the rear speakers, followed by fiberglass and Dura-Glass. This creates an insert that will later be wrapped in suede.

Rage Gold is the next filler layer, followed by some sanding, to get the results shown here.







The amp rack is built using tubular steel in order to hold the immense weight of the six F#1Status amplifiers. This "hopper" shaped piece holds the processor/rear center speaker rack as well as allowing a large channel through which to route wires.








The amp rack is now in place with the amps mounted. We decided to remove the factory aluminum end covers in order to fabricate one large 1/4" aluminum cover front and rear. With everything in place, the amp assembly weighs over 350 pounds!







The processor rack/rear center channel panel is built using two parallel pieces of MDF joined at the top and bottom.

The rear center channel speaker enclosure is built in between the processor rack rails, and the frame is shown here fabricated from MDF and ABS plastic.








Stretchy non-backed carpet is stretched and stapled over the surface of the rear center channel enclosure.







Fiberglass resin and mat are applied over the carpet to strengthen it.







Dura-Glass reinforced body filler is spread over the enclosure, and later ground down with a die grinder.

Rage Gold body filler is evenly spread over the entire enclosure, followed by sanding with 36 grit sandpaper.







The entire processor rack/rear center channel enclosure is now assembled in the car, along with the 1/8" aluminum inserts in the sides of the piece. These inserts add style while also hiding bolt holes.







Aluminum inserts were also added in front of the side panels to allow access to the rear door motor.







The completed inserts fit perfectly, and we later cut out the area behind the inserts to allow access underneath.

This is Rino, one of our Alpine of Canada buddies, who helped us out during the last critical month of the project. Here, he gets the tedious job of sanding down the primer on the processor rack panel.







A layer of base coat shows off the rear area, giving us a good idea of what it will look like when it's finished.







After the airbrushing is finished, we clear-coated the panels. Next, we wet-sanded everything down with 2000 grit sandpaper to remove all of the orange peel.







An electric buffer and some 3M rubbing compound are used to bring back the shine after the wet-sanding procedure, resulting in a smooth, deep, shiny surface.

This is Kevin, our buddy from Meguiar's who helped us out with the wet sanding and buffing of the exterior of the X5.







Jamie is another one of the Meguiar's crew who sanded and buffed the exterior of the X5 to perfection.







Billy also came down with the Meguiar's team to help out with the sanding and buffing process.

ακου 170 κιλα οι κατσκευη με τους ενισχυτες...
μιλαμε οι ανθρωποι δεν πανε καθολου καλα.
στην αρχη δουλευαν πολυ με πολυεστερα.
τωρα το παιζουν και σιδεραδες.
για να μην πω για τα καλουπια για τα πλαστικα(abs) .
να δειτε στο τελος θα φτιαξουν και δικο τους αυτοκινητο...
απλα κατα γενικη ομολογια παγκοσμιως αυτοι τι στιγμη μιλαμε για τους απολυτως καλυτερους εγκαταστατες στον κοσμο. και φυσικα το Χ5 μαλλον ειναι το απολυτως κ&λοφτιαγμενο demo car...
ασπιρινες παρακαλωωωω....

Εδώ μου έφυγε ο τάκος μόνο και μόνο για να κατεβάσω τις φωτογραφίες.......

Μιλάμε οι άνθρωποι ζωγραφίζουν!!!
Και η μελέτη και μόνο που έκαναν δεν παίζεται!!
Και ακόμα περισσότερο η προσοχή στην λεπτομέρεια!!!
Αλλάξανε στοιχεία της ανάρτησης (που ουσιαστικά δεν χρειαζόταν...) λόγω των τεράστιων τροχών (που μάλλον υπερβολικοί είναι, αλλά να μου πεις.......όλο το όχημα είναι μια υπερβολή......)
Τα 15" δισκόφρενα?? :shock: :shock: Άλλο σοκ κι αυτό.........

Δείτε επίσης τον μηχανισμό (με γρανάζια και καδένα) για την μετατόπηση του τιμονιού στο κέντρο και την κατάλληλη μετατροπή στο βήμα ώστε να περιστρέφονται οι τροχοί με λίγο στρίψιμο του "τιμονιού" χειριστηρίου!!!

Ό,τι και να πω.....λίγο θα είναι!!!
