Denon has launched a new ‘soundbar’ speaker for delivering surround sound from a single, front-mounted box.

The £700 DHT-FS3 X-SPACE apparently differs from competitors by relying on diffraction and very broad sound 'beams' rather than narrow ones, allegedly allowing its sound to appear more consistent and less room independent. For instance, corners and large rooms should cease to be a problem. What’s more, by including a subwoofer in the price, Denon is ensuring that the system can deliver the sort of bass required by home cinema users. What’s more, no complex room tuning is required to get the speaker working effectively. You just put it down and it’s ready to go!

Designed to be the perfect partner for a flat TV, the FS3 delivers 150 watts of power, with all the necessary amplification and electronics built in. Just plug in a DVD or satellite box to get digital surround sound, plus the Dolby Pro Logic II decoder will give convincing surround from any TV, VCR or PVR.
