JVC TAKES SECOND GENERATION EXAD MOBILE RECEIVERS TO THE NEXT LEVEL
New series offers more multimedia options and includes units with SD card compatibility.
LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2005 JVC today announced a new EXAD line of leading-edge mobile receivers, featuring the companys most advanced technologies and design concepts. This years EXAD series includes models with DVD capability, built-in video displays and SanDisk SD memory card compatibility, among other features, giving customers all the tools they need to build the ultimate mobile entertainment system.
"Once again, JVC has combined excellence in technology, quality and design to bring a line of premium mobile products to market, said Gary DeFeo, General Manager, Mobile Electronics Division, JVC Company of America. Advancements such as Sirius Satellite Radio, SD memory card capability and JVCs GIGA MP3 technology, which allows users to store a huge catalog of music files on one DVD for playback in compatible units, easily make the latest EXAD line a category leader.
This year, JVC redefines premium with the KD-AVX1 (national advertised value: $649.95) single DIN CD/DVD receiver with built-in three-inch full-color TFT monitor. The display, built in to the front of the receiver, lets users watch television or DVD movies, display JPEG pictures or monitor a rear view camera. The sleek, intuitive interface replaces the usual array of control buttons with two discrete cross-key controls that control the functionality of the entire unit.
The KD-AVX1 boasts an intuitive GUI (graphical user interface) menu that is displayed on the monitor. The advanced menu interface allows for fast navigation through a large number of tracks and file folders when using JVCs GIGA MP3 technology to play MP3s.
Power output is 20W x 4 (RMS), 50W x 4 Max., courtesy of the MOS-FET power amp that includes gold-plated subwoofer output terminals. Gold-plated line output and video terminals enable playback of DVD-R/-RW/VCD compatible media on any screen. An optical digital output, 96kHz/24-bit DAC and digital 7-band iEQ complete this audiophiles dream machine.
Users looking for a larger screen up front can step up to the KD-AV7010 (national advertised value: $1599.95), which features a stunning seven-inch full-color detachable in-dash TFT monitor. When not in use, the motorized display is hidden within the receiver. At the touch of a button it emerges and pops up for use. The screen is easily removable and can be mounted to a headrest for rear seat entertainment using the optional KV-CR100 cradle adapter.
The screen also offers touch-panel operation of the receiver, which makes controlling the unit a breeze, especially when it comes time to set up the 5.1 channel Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound. Power output is 20W x 4, + 18W x 1 (RMS), 50W x 4, + 35W x 1 Max. For passengers who have a hard time agreeing on entertainment options, JVCs Dual-Zone function can route two different sources to the back and front of the vehicle.
JVCs T-DSP mode features time alignment to accurately adjust the soundfield for optimum performance regardless of the vehicle interior layout. This advanced digital signal processing compensates for the varying distances between each speaker and the listener so that sound from each speaker reaches the listener at the same time.
Available accessories for the Sirius-Ready KD-AV7010 include a TV tuner (KV-C1000) and a two-way center speaker (CS-CN100) for the ideal theater experience.
JVCs EXAD line is further enhanced with three new CD receivers: the KD-SHX850, KD-SHX750 and KD-LHX550. Each features an SD card slot that allows each unit to serve as an in-car digital audio player, offering direct playback of music files. The SD card can also be used to upload images and video clips for viewing on the receivers full-color OEL displays using JVCs PiCT technology. All three receivers are Sirius Ready and include JVCs DiAS digital tuner, based on a unified chip rather than the more common hard-wired analog tuner to deliver improved reception, with minimal interference and signal fade. Other shared features include advanced multi-bit DAC that elevates digital-to-analog conversion to a level usually associated with high end home audio products, MP3/WMA compatibility, 5V line out level, 5V subwoofer out level and gold-plated input and output terminals.
The KD-LHX550 (nationally advertised value: $449.95) has a power output of 22W x 4 (RMS), 52W x 4 Max. Its unique feature is a touch panel with voice support feature that simplifies operation while enhancing driver safety. A film-coated display presents station ID, CD song selections, EQ and DSP options, volume, balance and fader controls, in big, bold type that is easy to read. The film-coated display is smoother to the touch than traditional glass, and much easier to clean.
The touch screen incorporates a multilingual voice notification feature that provides verbal cues regarding CD and changer operation, DSP options, and more. English, French, and Spanish are supported. The KD-SHX750 (nationally advertised value: $549.95) includes all of the KD-LHX550s features, but replaces the touch panel with a 256-color OEL display. It also adds BBE digital high definition sound to enhance imaging and overall clarity, JVCs CC converter that restores frequencies that can be lost during analog-to-digital conversion, and digital signal processing (DSP) for tailoring the sound to suit the listeners tastes and the vehicle.
A key feature that separates the KD-SHX850 (nationally advertised value: $649.95) from the KD-SHX750 is its use of JVCs Hybrid Feedback digital amplifier technology, first available in JVC home audio products. The KD-SHX850s digital amp delivers 39W x 4 (RMS), 70W x 4 Max. of total power. It also adds T-DSP and shock-proof memory to the features found on the KD-SHX750.
Completing the 2005 EXAD line-up is the KD-SHX900 (nationally advertised value: $849.95), which was an instant hit with mobile aficionados when it debuted in 2004. Featuring HD (Hi-Definition) Radio based on iBiquity Digital Corporations IBOC (In-Band On Channel) technology, HD Radio delivers digital broadcasts with sound quality to rival compact discs.
The KD-SHX900 also incorporates JVCs DiAS tuner technology and a 256-color OEL display.
