και τα ριχνα στην αρπαχτή την καθεστηκυία

Ο ΄΄μεγάλος ελέφαντας΄΄ στο αμφιθέατρο είναι ο σκοπός της πολυεθνικής που κατέχει τα δικαιώματα των έργων για γρήγορες αποσβέσεις στα εκταμιευθέντα κεφάλαια... Βγάζοντας το πλιάτσικο και τη ΄΄φαντασμένη΄΄ αναγραφή της χρονολογίας από τη μέση έχουμε ένα συγκρότημα στο απώγειο της ψυχεδελικής του φάσης αρκετά μετά την αναγκαστική αποχώρηση του αρχικού ηγέτη Syd Barrett και λίγο πριν αναβαθμιστούν οι υπόλοιποι σε mainstream οδοστρωτήρα και ... Atom Heart Mother χρημάτων.

Τα κομμάτια όλα εκλεκτά με την ικανότητα των εκτελέσεων να μεταβαίνουν από ειδυλλιακό ψίθυρο σε ανατριχιαστικές εκρήξεις ενέργειας ανεπτυγμένη εις το έπακρον. Θρυλικές συνθέσεις όπως τα "One Of These Days" , "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" , "Careful With That Axe Eugene" μπορεί να χάνουν τη στουντιακή τους γυαλάδα στην ύπαιθρο αλλά αποκτούν ιδανικό εικαστικό συνοδό την καμμένη γη και τις γκροτέσκες φιγούρες των στερεοποιημένων στη λάβα θυμάτων από το ηφαίστειο. Ο David Gilmour ξυπόλητος να χαράζει κοσμικές τροχιές στα τάστα και ο Nick Mason να δείχνει πόσο άξια θα εξαργύρωνε στο μέλλον την αγάπη του για θρυλικά αγωνιστικά αμάξια όπως η Ferrari 250 GTO. Ένα live ορόσημο της εποχής και διόλου...κομφορμιστικό.

Η εικόνα παρά την επεξεργασία διατηρεί αυθεντικό κόκκο από την εποχή της κινηματογράφησης ενώ η δικαναλική επανέκδοση δεν φαίνεται να προσθέτει συνταρακτικά στοιχεία σε σχέση με προηγούμενες.

This is the first Pink Floyd album to hit #1 in the UK in eleven years and marks their seventh chart-topping album.

How Pink Floyd's Classic Pompeii Concert Film Was Reborn

Steven Wilson tells UCR how he approached restoring the audio for the new version of Pink Floyd's classic concert film.

In a recent interview with the UCR Podcast, he shared that it was a challenging task. "It was quite a basic recording. There really were only four mono feeds -- one drum feed, one bass feed, one guitar feed, one keyboard feed. A lot of what you're listening to on the original performance is just four channels," he explains. "Now, they did do some overdubbing later in Paris and of course, there are the vocals occasionally, but they're not a very vocal-heavy band at this point in their career. It's mostly instrumental."

"So you're listening essentially most of the time just to four channels, and it's like, 'Well, what am I going to do with that in Dolby Atmos and spatial audio? So I did my best," he continues. "I took the view that it should be a fairly dry up front sound. I spent a lot of time removing things like distortion, tape hiss, level fluctuations, trying to EQ the sounds to sound as golden and as clear as possible without making them sound too modernized or anything like that. So there were a lot of challenges, mostly to do with the the limitations, I think, of the original recording. But you know, the proof will be in the reaction the Floyd fans have to it."

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως κι ο James Guthrie έκανε φανταστική δουλειά στο Αnimals, επίσης πολύ παλιά ηχογράφηση, που την απογείωσε με Dolby Atmos, χωρίς να αλλάξει ο χαρακτήρας της.
