Naomi Scott is the pink ranger in Lionsgate’s Power Rangers reboot!

This weekend, word broke about actors testing for the various roles in Lionsgate‘s upcoming Power Rangers reboot, and the studio has officially announced the first cast member. Naomi Scott (The Martian, “Terra Nova”) will star as Kimberly, AKA The Pink Ranger!

Dacre Montgomery is the Power Rangers movie’s Red Ranger

Another Power Ranger has joined the cast of Lionsgate‘s upcoming feature film. Relative newcomer Dacre Montgomery will play the Red Ranger, joining the previously-announced Naomi Scott (The Martian, “Terra Nova”) as The Pink Ranger.

Dacre Montgomery’s name did not appear on the recently rumored Power Rangers short list, but his involvement was confirmed by the film’s official Instagram account. The initial story also suggested that Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Ross Butler (“Chasing Life”) and Brian “Sene” Marc (“Major Crimes”) are in contention for the role of the Black Ranger.

Powers Rangers movie names its Black Ranger

A third Power Ranger has joined the cast of Lionsgate‘s upcoming feature film today. Another relative newcomer, Ludi Lin will play the Black Ranger, joining the previously-announced Naomi Scott (The Martian, “Terra Nova”) as the Pink Ranger and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.

As was the case with Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin’s name did not appear on the recently rumored Power Rangers short list. His involvement was nevertheless confirmed by the film’s official Instagram account. You can check out the embed of the announcement below.

RJ Cyler joins the Power Rangers movie

A fourth Power Ranger has today joined the cast of Lionsgate‘s upcoming feature film. RJ Cyler — best known for playing the title role of Earl in director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s recent dramedy Me and Earl and the Dying Girl – will play the Blue Ranger. RJ Cyler’s casting was confirmed though the film’s official Instagram page. You can find an embed of the announcement below.

Becky G joins the Power Rangers reboot

Lionsgate continues their rollout of the cast for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot and has now revealed that musician Becky G, who previously appeared in two episodes of the hit series “Empire,” will take on the role of the Yellow Ranger for the upcoming film.

Elizabeth Banks to star as the Power Rangers villain!

Lionsgate has officially announced that actress Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect) has signed on to play the villain in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot. Banks will play the iconic Power Rangers villain Rita Repulsa, an evil witch previously imprisoned for thousands of years with plans to conquer Earth.

“It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa,” Banks tells the outlet, before teasing: “We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers.”

Power Rangers costumes revealed!

Entertainment Weekly has our first official look at the Power Rangers costumes from the upcoming reboot!

“It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume,” production designer Andrew Menzies (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) tells the magazine. “Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”

Rita Repulsa takes on the yellow ranger in new Power Rangers photo

Following the character posters released this morning, a new Power Rangers photos has debuted online featuring Elizabeth Banks’ villain, Rita Repulsa, as she attempts to take on the Rangers one by one, with her first target being the Yellow Ranger, Trini, played by Becky G.

“Rita tries to make Trini feel like she’s the weakest link of the Power Rangers,” the singer tells EW "And she feels it’s easiest to go for her. Rita’s the type to play a lot of mind games, and Trini’s [thinking], “Can I really overpower Rita Repulsa or can I not?”

The actress also confirmed that principal photography has wrapped on the movie but that some reshoots will be taking place soon. Check out the new photo below!
