Toyota Announces First Vehicle With NXT-Equipped Roof Liner Loudspeaker System

NXT has announced that the FJ Cruiser Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) from Toyota will feature an NXT-equipped roof liner sound system when it goes on sale in North America beginning in March 2006.

The first mass production vehicle in the world to incorporate NXT SurfaceSound technology in the roof liner, the FJ Cruiser is the latest in a long line of 4x4’s from Toyota and is designed to appeal to both serious off-roaders and those looking for a stylish SUV that combines practical features and state of the art comfort.

Powered by a 4.0L V6 24-valve engine, the FJ Cruiser is available with a choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission and is equally at home on the highways as it is on mountain treks or jungle safaris according to Toyota.

The FJ Cruiser’s cabin combines luxury features including air conditioning and multi-adjust high-comfort seats with practical essentials such as easy to adjust controls and wipe-clean seats and trim panels. The robust interior is completed with the addition of the NXT-based roof liner loudspeaker system which complements the FJ Cruiser’s conventional speakers to create a broad, omni-directional dispersion of high quality sound that fills the cabin and envelopes passengers.

The vehicle is available with a choice of three audio systems, with an AM/FM/CD system with six speakers fitted as standard (including NXT-based roof liner). The other options include an eight speaker system with six-disc CD changer and a nine speaker system, complete with subwoofer.
