Καλή χρονιά σε όλους.
Από τον εφευρέτη του πρώτου computer USB DAC, Gordon Rankin. Ένα απο τα καλύτερα DAC για ψηφιακή αναπαραγωγή με USB σε φούλ έξτρα εκδοχή. Σπάνιο στην ευρωπαϊκή αγορά, πόσο μάλλον στην ελληνική.
Έως 24/96 modular support (USB controller firmware TAS1020B), asynchronous USB mode (εφεύρεση Gordon Rankin), tube-based output stage, καθόλου opamps. Το μόνο solid state εξάρτημα στο DAC είναι τα modules (περιγράφονται παρακάτω). Οι εσωτερικοί μετασχηματιστές είναι της MagneQuest, απο τις καλύτερες εταιρείες μετασχηματιστών (πλέον δεν υφίσταται), τυλιγμένοι με χαλκό Cardas.
Περιλαμβάνει ενσωματωμένο αναλογικό volume control TKD (ειδική παραγγελία στη Wavelength), εξωτερικό linear power supply και τρία διαφορετικά modules (πλακέτες με DIN connectors που τοποθετούνται κάθετα στη motherboard του DAC) :
1. Transcendental 16/44.1 DAC Module
This is our Zero or Non Oversampling (NOS), Non Digital or Analog filtering DAC Module. These DACs incorporate the TDA1543N2 (select top 5%) DAC chips with passive I/V using Shinko Tantulum resistors in a configuration that does not use analog or digital filters. The data input is the data output without any up/oversampling or other manipulation, which seems to make for a very analog presentation. To some this is what sounds most realistic.
2. Numerator 24/96 DAC Module
The Numerator uses a High Performance Wolfson DAC to output the analog signal. Special regulators are done for all the analog and digital sections to make this DAC a stellar performer. On board Master Clocks are powered by ultra low noise regulators for really low overall jitter. This module will work at 44.1k, 48k, 88.2k and 96k sampling rates at 24 bits.
3. Denominator 32/192 DAC Module (λόγω firmware μετατρέπει τα αρχεία εώς 24/96)
Based on the 32 Bit ESS Sabre DAC Chip, the Denominator uses the best of the best. We start out with our ultra low jitter Master Clocks at 45.1584/49.152 to support the range from 44.1K to 192K sampling rates. The Sabre32 is used in what is called "Synchronous" mode in that the Master Clock and the Sampling rate are Synchronous. We use discrete power supplies for all the analog supplies and the Master Clocks.
Το κάθε module έχει διαφορετικό ήχο οπότε ουσιαστικά δίνονται 3 DAC σε ενα. Μπορεί επίσης να παίξει και balanced. Μεταφέρω απο σχόλια του κατασκευαστή: “Since the Cosecant has transformer coupled output, it is actually fully balanced. A simple adapter (or custom cable) can be used to convert the RCA to an XLR connection.” Μπορώ να δείξω στον αγοραστή εάν ενδιαφέρεται για το πώς γίνεται αυτό.
