Τα... βάσανα του Πόε

Αν σας ρωτούσε κάποιος τι είναι αυτό που συνδέει τον Εντγκαρ Αλαν Πόε με τον Σιλβέστερ Σταλόνε, σίγουρα θα γελούσατε πριν ακούσετε την απάντηση, καθώς θα ήσασταν βέβαιοι ότι πρόκειται για ένα καινούριο ανέκδοτο.
Αν πάλι σας έλεγε ότι θα δείτε τη ζωή του Πόε στη μεγάλη οθόνη μέσα από τα μάτια του Σταλόνε θα συνεχίζατε να γελάτε; Μάλλον όχι... Και όμως ο "ακάματος" Σιλβέστερ Σταλόνε χωρίς καμία αιδώ αποφάσισε να βασανίσει τη ζωή του μεγάλου αμερικανού ποιητή σκηνοθετώντας τη!
Ευτύχημα θεωρούμε βέβαια ότι ούτε ο ίδιος ούτε ο Ρόμπερτ Ντάουνι Τζούνιορ, όπως φημολογείτο αρχικώς, θα ενσαρκώσουν τον Πόε. Ο Βίγκο Μόρτενσεν είναι πολύ κοντά στο να πει το τελικό και σίγουρα αψυχολόγητο ναι. Ο Σταλόνε μάλιστα πριν τελειώσουν καλά καλά τα γυρίσματα του Ράμπο 4, πήγε και συνάντησε προσωπικά τον Μόρτενσεν, προσφέροντάς του τον πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο.

Δεν ξέρουμε αν η ταινία θα είναι η αναμενόμενη παρωδία, πάντως θα έχει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον να δούμε τον Μόρτενσεν σ΄ αυτό το ρόλο, καθώς στο παρελθόν μας έχει χαρίσει καλές ερμηνείες, ιδιαίτερα στο «Τέλος της Βίας».

Connelly Joins 'Earth' Remake

Connelly joins Reeves in Earth
Jennifer Connelly will star opposite Keanu Reeves in 20th Century Fox's feature remake of Robert Wise's 1951 sci fi movie The Day the Earth Stood Still. Kathy Bates is also in negotiations to star. Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will direct from a David Scarpa (The Last Castle) script.

The story is about an alien who comes to Earth carrying a message for all humans: Live in peace or be destroyed.

Connelly is set to portray Helen Benson, the scientist who first encounters the alien, named Klaatu (Reeves). Patricia Neal played Helen in the 1951 original. Production is scheduled to start next month.

Tim Burton to Direct Alice and Frankenweenie

Tim Burton is pairing up with Disney to direct two 3-D films, Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie.

Variety says the two-movie deal with Walt Disney Studios begins with Alice in Wonderland, which will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in Beowulf, with live-action footage.

The script by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) is based on the Lewis Carroll classic.

Burton, who is wrapping Sweeney Todd at Paramount and DreamWorks, will tackle Alice in Wonderland early next year, with production set to wrap by May.

After "Alice," Burton will helm and produce Frankenweenie, based on his 1984 short film about a pet dog brought back to life by his loyal owner. The movie will be shot in stop-motion animation and shown in digital 3-D.

Bruce Willis Joins Sci-Fi Thriller The Surrogates

The Surrogates, directed by Jonathan Mostow (U-571, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) is a sci-fi thriller that's set to start shooting in February in Boston with Willis in the lead. The Surrogates was originally a graphic novel from Top Shelf Comix and was adapted by Michael Ferris and John Brancato, the writers on Terminator 3 and the upcoming Terminator 4. So the Terminator 3 team is back at it but with Willis instead of Schwarzenegger this time!

The story is set in the near future, where humans live in isolation and interact vicariously through surrogate robots who are better-looking versions of themselves. Willis plays a cop who, through his surrogate, investigates the murders of others’ surrogates. The cop is forced to venture from his own home for the first time in years and unravels a conspiracy.

Ellis Returns for Final Destination 4 - 3D


David R. Ellis (Final Destination 2) has signed to direct and develop Final Destination 4, the latest installment of New Line's popular horror series, which the studio plans to shoot in 3-D.

While plot details for "FD4" are being kept under wraps, the movie will stand alone: It will feature new teens facing new forms of death.

The script was written by Eric Bress, who co-wrote Final Destination 2.

The "Final Destination" films have been solid performers for New Line since they debuted in 2000. The first film grossed $53.3 million, the 2003 sequel made $46.5 million and the third, released in 2006, collected $54 million.

Sienna Miller Recruited for G.I. Joe

Sienna Miller is the first actor to enlist in Paramount Pictures' big-budget tentpole G.I. Joe, reports Variety.

The British actress will play the film's female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage.

Stephen Sommers directs the live-action film based on the Hasbro toys, comic book and TV series.

Paramount, which has set a mid-February start date, has slotted the film for an August 7, 2009, release.

The story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

Four Justice League of America Casting Confirmations Arrived

Adam Brody (In the Land of Women, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, "The O.C.") will play The Flash / Wally West.

Rapper Common (Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster, Wanted) will play Green Lantern / John Stewart.

Scott Porter (Music & Lyrics, Speed Racer, TV's "Friday Night Lights") will play Superman / Clark Kent.

Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2, December Boys) will play Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul.

Cage, Buscemi & Morgan Join G-Force



Nicolas Cage, Steve Buscemi and Tracy Morgan will be three of the lead voices in G-Force, for Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

The Hollywood Reporter says Bill Nighy and Will Arnett also have joined the ranks of the human actors in the live-action/CG film, which marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning visual effects innovator Hoyt Yeatman.

The story follows a group of ultra-intelligent animal commandoes who work for a government agency trying to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world.

Cage will play Speckles, a mole
Buscemi will portray Bucky, a hamster and
Morgan will voice Blaster, a guinea pig.
Nighy will portray an industrialist, and Arnett will play an FBI agent.

The live-action leads also include Zach Galifianakis, Kelli Garner, Gabriel Casseus and Jack Conley.

Production is currently under way in Los Angeles.

Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

Έχετε φανταστεί ποτέ το Χριστό ως περιπλανώμενο μυστικιστή ανά τον κόσμο επηρεασμένο από τις ανατολικές θρησκείες της Ινδίας; Αν όχι... αρχίστε να το χωνεύετε, γιατί αυτό διαπραγματεύεται το νέο ελπιδοφόρο πρότζεκτ του Χόλιγουντ που μάλιστα θα είναι επεξεργασμένο ψηφιακά με την ίδια τεχνική των «300».

Το όνομα αυτού: Γέσουα (ο Χριστός στα αραμαϊκά).
Ο τίτλος αυτής (της ταινίας): «Τhe aquarian gospel».
Και ο σκηνοθέτης αυτής: Ντρου Εριοτ.

Η ταινία θα καταπιαστεί με τα «άγνωστα» χρόνια του Χριστού, της περιόδου δηλαδή από τα 13 έως τα 30 του, κατά τα οποία -σύμφωνα με την ταινία- περιπλανήθηκε από το Ισραήλ, σε Ινδία, Θιβέτ, Περσία, Ελλάδα και Αίγυπτο προσπαθώντας να προσελκύσει ανθρώπους όλων των θρησκευτικών ιδεολογιών και αντιλήψεων. Το ευτύχημα είναι ότι η θεματολογία διαφέρει λίγο απ΄όλο το συρφετό ταινιών που ασχολούνται με το πρόσωπο του, καθώς δεν θα αντέχαμε άλλη μία εκδοχή των βασάνων του (βλ. "Τα Πάθη του Χριστού" του Μελ Γκίμπσον και πολλά άλλα).

Λογοτεχνική έμπνευση αποτέλεσαν δύο πηγές: ένα βιβλίο του περασμένου αιώνα ( 1898 ) το «The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ» του ρώσου ανθρωπολόγου Νίκολας Νότιοβιτς που ερευνά τις καταβολές της χριστιανικής θρησκείας σε συγκερασμό με τις επιρροές της από την Ανατολή και το βιβλίο με τίτλο «The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ» ( 1908 ) από τον ευαγγελιστή ιερέα Λέβι Ντόουλινγκ.

Ο νεαρός Ντρου Χέριοτ φαίνεται πως άφησε καλές εντυπώσεις με το ντοκιμαντέρ του «The Secret» που πούλησε περισσότερα από δύο εκατομμύρια κόπιες (!) και του εμπιστεύτηκαν την σκηνοθεσία της ταινίας. Το σενάριο έγραψαν ο Τζον ο Σάλιβαν και ο Γουίλιαμ Κίναν, ενώ ο τελευταίος έχει αναλάβει την παραγωγή της ταινίας από κοινού με τον Θαντεόυς Κάρλσον.

Το μπάτζετ κυμαίνεται στα 12- 15 εκατομμύρια ευρώ και υπάρχουν βλέψεις να βγει και σε high definition format (όπως οι 300 δηλαδή). Με ενδιαφέρον επίσης διαβάσαμε στο Variety πως οι παραγωγοί σκοπεύουν να χρησιμοποιήσουν σε μικρούς ρόλους ηθοποιούς από τη Μέση Ανατολή, την Ινδία, την Απω Ανατολή και την Αμερική που θα ενσαρκώσουν ιστορικές και θρησκευτικές φιγούρες με τις οποίες ήλθε σ΄επαφή ο Χριστός.

Fugitive Pieces: Η Πρώτη Καναδό-Ελληνική Παραγωγή

Η νέα ταινία του Τζέρεμι Ποντεσουά συμμετείχε στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ της Ρώμης και ο Ράντε Σερμπέντζια, που υποδύεται έναν Έλληνα Αρχαιολόγο, κέρδισε το Βραβείο Καλύτερης Ανδρικής Ερμηνείας.

Πρόκειται για την πρώτη Καναδό-Ελληνική παραγωγή με γυρίσματα στον Καναδά, την Αθήνα, την Ύδρα και τη Λέσβο. Μεγάλη πρόκληση ήταν το γεγονός ότι πολλοί απ' τους ηθοποιούς έπρεπε να μάθουν εβραϊκά και ελληνικά για να υποδυθούν τους ρόλους τους. Συγκεκριμένα ο Ράντε Σερμπέντζια είχε μια εξαιρετική ερμηνεία στα ελληνικά.

Ο Τζέρεμι Ποντεσουά είναι ήδη γνωστός από τις δύο προηγούμενες ταινίες του "Οι Πέντε Αισθήσεις" (The Five Senses) και "Έκλειψη" (Eclipse). Η τρίτη του ταινία, βαθύτατα ποιητική, περίπλοκη, όμορφη και αντισυμβατική βασίζεται στο αγαπημένο μπεστ σέλερ της Καναδής Αν Μάικλς, που έχει εκδοθεί σε τριάντα χώρες.

Ο καθρέφτης της οικογενειακής, εθνικής και πολιτιστικής ιστορίας μας: αυτό είμαστε όλοι. Το παρελθόν βρίσκεται πάντα μέσα μας και καθορίζει το ποιοι είμαστε.

Η ζωή του Τζάκομπ Μπιρ στοιχειώνεται από τα παιδικά του τραύματα στον Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, στην Πολωνία, όταν σκοτώνονται οι γονείς του και σώζεται από βέβαιο θάνατο από έναν φιλεύσπλαχνο Έλληνα αρχαιολόγο που τον φυγαδεύει μαζί του στη Ζάκυνθο.

Το παρελθόν και το παρόν συνυπάρχουν στην ταινία καθώς βλέπουμε τον Τζάκομπ να ζει ταυτόχρονα στις δύο διαφορετικές περιόδους της ζωής του.

Καθώς μεγαλώνει, ο Τζάκομπ ξεκινάει μια νέα ζωή στον Καναδά, σπουδάζει, γράφει και ερωτεύεται χωρίς όμως να ξεφύγει από τα φαντάσματα του παρελθόντος. Μόνο η αληθινή αγάπη θα τον βοηθήσει να ξεφύγει από την τρομακτική πραγματικότητα και θα τον μεταμορφώσει.


Τους βασικούς ρόλους της ταινίας έχουν ο Στίβεν Ντιλέιν, ο Ράντε Σερμπέντζια, η Ρόζαμουντ Πάικ και ο 10χρονος Ρόμπι Κέι.

Συμμετέχουν και Έλληνες ηθοποιοί όπως η Θέμιδα Μπαζάκα, ο Γιώργος Καραμίχος και η Δανάη Σκιάδη. Η Μουσική της ταινίας είναι του Νίκου Κυπουργού.

Η ταινία θα προβληθεί στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης παρουσία πολλών συντελεστών και θα βγει στις αίθουσες τον επόμενο Φεβρουάριο.

Βασισμενο στο video game konami και με σκηνοθετη τον PAUL W.S. Anderson υποσχεται θεαμα και πολλα effects.

It is the year 1691... The land of Transylvania has been at peace for 100 years now, and the peasants and villagers have begun to purge their minds of the memories of the times when the lands were dominated by chaos and shadows, and when the undead walked the earth.

However, there are those that remember that the evil Count Dracula returns every 100 years to plague the land, bringing with him the forces of Hell. Thus, one evening, the Prince of Darkness rises and returns to Castlevania, his ancestral home, calling forth his minions to purge the world of human flesh. The people cry out for a hero - someone to defend them from the evil desires of the count. Thankfully, they don't have to look very far, for within the land of Transylvania the Belmont line still lives, as Simon Belmont, great-grandson of Christopher Belmont, takes up the legendary whip called the Vampire Killer, and sets forth on his journey through the darkened countryside to the dark lord's castle.

Upon arrival, the young man fights his way through legions of zombies, gigantic bats, and even faces Death himself, but in the end, he makes it to the Count and in a battle to end all battles, he comes out the victor. The price? The evil master places a curse of death upon Simon, which will lead him into a long and dangerous journey in the very near future.

«Αφωνο» παραμένει το Χόλιγουντ από την απεργία των σεναριογράφων. Ο Σον Πεν, η Σούζαν Σάραντον, η Χόλι Χάντερ και άλλοι γνωστοί ηθοποιοί στηρίζουν με μια νέα καμπάνια τους απεργούς σεναριογράφους. Η εκστρατεία έχει ήδη αρχίσει να κάνει την εμφάνισή της στο Internet.

First Photos of KITT From Knight Rider!

Knight Rider" stars Justin Bruening as Mike Tracer, Michael Knight's (David Hasselhoff) son who never knew his dad. Tracer is recruited by his childhood best friend, Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo), and her eccentric physicist father, Charles (Bruce Davison), to join the Knight Foundation, a group committed to counteracting and preventing the damage done by private, covert military contractors.

To assist their missions, Charles creates the second-generation KITT, an artificially intelligent car. A shady millionaire approaches Charles to commission a KITT car, and when Charles refuses, he hires a military contractor to murder him and steal the car.

Το 2009 αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει στους κινηματογράφους η συνέχεια των ταινιών Terminator, με τίτλο 'Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins'.

Ο Άρνι είναι μεγάλος πια για τέτοια έργα, άσε που δεν προλαβαίνει με τις δουλειές του κυβερνήτη της Καλιφόρνια, οπότε το στόρι θα συνεχιστεί χωρίς αυτόν.

Υπάρχει η φημολογία πως τον πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο του Τζον Κόνορ θα τον πάρει ο Κρίστιαν Μπέιλ, ενώ η δράση της ταινίας τοποθετείται ακριβώς μετά το Terminator 3 και θα έχει να κάνει με τον πόλεμο των μηχανών με τους ανθρώπους.

Παράλληλα από τις 19 Ιανουαρίου θα προβάλλεται στις ΗΠΑ η σειρά 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles'.

Jerry Bruckheimer Prince of Persia - Shooting Starts in June

since the idea of a Prince of Persia movie was first announced, I've been making sure to follow it extra closely. I think putting the project in the hands of producer Jerry Bruckheimer is instant success. Just look at what Bruckheimer has done in recent years: National Treasure 1 & 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, "The Amazing Race" on CBS, King Arthur, Bad Boys II, Black Hawk Down. His production value are incredible, and I might be hard-pressed to even say unmatchable. If you imagine all of that put into a Prince of Persia project, you've got instant success. There hasn't been an update on the project since Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco, Mona Lisa Smile, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) was announced as the director, but Bruckheimer has finally spoken about it.

Our friends at Collider caught up with Bruckheimer during press events for National Treasure: Book of Secrets, due out in a few weeks. Collider started out by asking the ever-so-important question: how they'll make a good movie out of Prince of Persia in a world where video game movies are destined to suck. And what does "the Bruck" respond with?

"We hired a very interesting director, Mike Newell, who did one of the Harry Potter's and also did Donnie Brasco and he's a very inventive, ingenious director and I think he's going to bring something really special to it. We're just starting to… we have a screenplay, we're just starting to develop the look of it. It'll be unique and fresh."

Thank goodness for that! If there is anyone I have faith in turning out the first good video game adaptation, it would definitely be the duo of Bruckheimer and Newell. He also confirms that if it works, as in makes money and is successful, they'll be aiming to turn this into a franchise, just as he did with Pirates of the Caribbean. Bruckheimer also went on to say that it definitely will be a period film and they won't try and make it contemporary. They're aiming to start filming in June of next year as long as the writers strike ends in due time and the directors and actors strikes don't kick in either.

As a final question, Collider asked how Jerry was first introduced to the video game.

"It's a game that was brought to us early on and I thought it was very exciting and thought it was an interesting… first of all it's an interesting period and it's something that other people weren't doing. So I always like to go into new arenas that other filmmakers aren't in."

I'll continue to say it and continue to believe it: just as Michael Bay was perfect for bringing Transformers to the screen, Jerry Bruckheimer is perfect for bringing Prince of Persia to the screen. Unfortunately Jerry really didn't have anything too new to bring to the table, besides that a screenplay is developed and that they're aiming to start production in June of 2008. Are you still looking forward to Prince of Persia on the big screen?

First Speed Racer Pics!



USA Today has a look at the first photos from Warner Bros. Pictures' Speed Racer, written and directed by the Wachowski brothers ("The Matrix" trilogy).

About the effects, producer Joel Silver says they "are beyond belief. We called it 'car fu,' because it was like kung fu with the cars. We couldn't have made this movie until right now."

The trailer for the May 9 opener will premiere on Entertainment Tonight Thursday and stay tuned for when it will come online shortly afterwards.
