Το μυθιστόρημα ενός Άγγλου συγγραφέα που ήδη γίνεται μπεστ σέλερ έχει τραβήξει την προσοχή της Νικόλ Κίντμαν, η οποία θέλει να γυριστεί ταινία όπου και θα πρωταγωνιστεί. Η ιστορία της μικρής Νιγηριανής Λιτλ Μπι, που έρχεται στην Αγγλία και αναζητεί μιαν Αγγλίδα, τη Σάρα, γοήτευσε την Αυστραλέζα ηθοποιό.
Στη διάρκεια της πτήσης Λος Άντζελες- Σίδνεϊ, διάβασε το βιβλίο «Τhe Οther Ηand» του Κρις Κλιβ και ενθουσιάστηκε τόσο πολύ που άρχισε να μιλάει με διάφορα στούντιο για να κλείσουν τα δικαιώματα του βιβλίου για να το κάνουν ταινία, όπου η Κίντμαν απαιτεί για τον εαυτό της τον ρόλο της Σάρας. Αν το καταφέρει, δεν θα είναι η πρώτη φορά που θα υποδυθεί Αγγλίδα. Η Νικόλ Κίντμαν έχει κερδίσει το Όσκαρ πρώτου γυναικείου ρόλου υποδυόμενη τη Βιρτζίνια Γουλφ στις «Ώρες».
Όσο για τον συγγραφέα από το Νότιο Λονδίνο, βλέπει το βιβλίο του να γίνεται διάσημο όχι επειδή οι εκδότες του βοήθησαν στη διανομή και στην τηλεοπτική προβολή. Ο Κρις Κλιβ πιστεύει ότι το «Τhe Οther Ηand» ξεπέρασε μέσα σε δύο μήνες τα 100.000 αντίτυπα, επειδή το βοήθησαν οι ίδιοι αναγνώστες του, οι οποίοι αφού το διάβασαν, άρχισαν να το συστήνουν ο ένας στον άλλον.

Warner Bros. Pictures Takes on Odysseus
Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up Odysseus, written by Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), with Jonathan Liebesman attached to direct.
The Hollywood Reporter says the story centers on the legendary hero Odysseus, famed king of Ithaca, who returns to his island after 20 years of fighting the Trojan Wars, only to find his kingdom under the brutal occupation of an invading force. Odysseus single-handedly defeats every last man and takes back his wife, his son and his kingdom.
Gianni Nunnari is producing via his Hollywood Gang Productions (300). Craig Flores is executive producing.
Liebesman will first direct Battle: Los Angeles, starring Aaron Eckhart.
Warner Bros. also has "The Odyssey" in development with George Miller and Brad Pitt. The intention is to transfer their version of the tale to a futuristic setting in outer space.

Universal Puts Gore Verbinski's BioShock Movie on Hold
In a very odd decision, Universal Pictures has stopped all pre-production on BioShock, the live-action adaptation of Take-Two's video game.
Two weeks ago it was confirmed that Gore Verbinski told Disney he would not return to direct Pirates of the Caribbean 4 because he would instead be directing BioShock.
According to Variety, the budget of this project had gotten too out of hand for Universal's likes and therefore they have stopped its development, and let some production staff go, until they can figure out what to do.

Universal Remaking Cronenberg's Videodrome
Another day, another remake. Universal has announced that they are remaking David Cronenberg's 1983 thriller Videodrome. They've already hired writer Ehren Kruger (of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen most recently) to put together a script, with Daniel Bobker (The Skeleton Key, The Brothers Grimm) producing. No word on a director or anything else, but they are modernizing it, turning into a "large-scale sci-fi action thriller." A remake of Cronenberg's Scanners is also in development, but it has hit some snags as of recent. Universal had to track down the rights all the way to Canadian distribution vet Rene Malo.

David R. Ellis to Direct Humpy Dumpty
David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane) has been hired by former New Line executive Mark Ordesky to direct Humpy Dumpty, reports Variety.
The trade says the 3-D sci-fi horror film is about a half-human, half-alien creature who embarks on a murderous rampage after his alien mother is abused by two rednecks in the Deep South.
Billy Majestic is writing the script for the movie, which goes into production this September.

Ridley Scott's Involvement in Another Aliens?
First it was Predator, now it's Aliens, too? Last week it was confirmed that Robert Rodriguez is officially rebooting the Predator franchise with a new feature called Predators.
So what about Aliens? Does Fox want to resuscitate that franchise, too?
Well, if you believe what Tom Rothman says in this interview over on IESB, then it may indeed be possible that they're trying to get Ridley Scott to come back and make another. "There's been some talk," Rothman said when asked about another Alien movie.
When Ridley Scott's name is specifically brought up, Rothman seems to get a bit excited. "I think he's toying with the idea… and that would be great for us. It's always been a matter of, really, if you could get the originator to do it…
