Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki Join the Red Dawn Remake

Wolverines!! MGM's remake of Red Dawn is moving forward at full speed. Joining the cast are young actors Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki who will star alongside of Star Trek actor Chris Hemsworth. On top of that, they've announced that Dan Bradley, a stunt coordinator and second-unit director on The Bourne Ultimatum and Quantum of Solace, will be making his directorial debut with Red Dawn. Peck will play Matt Eckert, the role originally played by Charlie Sheen, and brother of Hemsworth's Jed Eckert and quarterback of the high school football team. Palicki will play Toni, a "tough fighter" the brothers encounter.

Phillip Noyce Directing Samuel Jackson in Mixed Blood

Based on screenwriter Roger Smith's novel of the same name, which was published in March, the story is set in South Africa and centers on an American fugitive trying to protect his family who's drawn into a world of murderers, kidnappers and corrupt cops. Jackson will play a good detective who goes by the nickname Disaster Zondi. Kelly Masterson, who previously wrote Before the Devil Knows You're Dead for Sidney Lumet, is writing this adaptation.

Universal and Imagine are developing a Bride of Frankenstein remake, to be co-written and directed by Neil Burger.

Burger, who would pen the script with writing partner Dirk Wittenborn, most prominently wrote and helmed The Illusionist.

James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein (1935), which starred Boris Karloff as the monster and Elsa Lanchester as the titular bride, continued the story that began with 1931's Frankenstein.

Brian Grazer and Sean Daniel will produce the film.

Mission: Impossible 4 Officially in Development for 2011!

THR is officially reporting that Paramount has put M:i:IV on the fast-track for a 2011 release. It's not a surefire prospect - both Cruise and Abrams have so many other projects in the works, that neither will confirm what they're doing next or if they'll even have the time to get to Mission: Impossible by 2010. We can only hope!

Brody, Whitaker, Wood & Gigandet Take Part in Experiment

Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood and Cam Gigandet will star in The Experiment, a remake of the German psychological thriller "Das Experiment" for Inferno Entertainment and Magnet Media Group, says Variety.

"Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring is directing from his screenplay. Filming begins in Iowa next month.

Das Experiment, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, centered on a group of ordinary men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners as part of a research study and examined how the effects of assigned roles, power and control affected the participants.

Brody will portray the de facto leader of the prisoners while Whitaker will play a guard who's corrupted by the power he's given.

Βαρέα ανθυγιεινά πρέπει να πάρει ο Frank Marshall αφού αυτό το διάστημα κινδυνεύει από υπερκόπωση. Ο δημοφιλής παραγωγός, έχει αναλάβει τρεις ταινίες, από τα μεγαλύτερα, δημοφιλέστερα και αναμενώμενα projects. Τα ονόματα αυτών; "Jurassic Park 4," "Neverending Story" και "Bourne 4". Με εξαίρεση τη δεύτερη ταινία η οποία και αποτελεί remake της ομώνυμης ταινίας, οι άλλες αφορούν τα sequel δύο εκ των πιο επιτυχημένων σειρών, η κάθε μία στο είδος της φυσικά. Ο Marshall, με γεμισμένες μπαταρίες και ηθικό ακμαιότατον, προσπαθεί να φτιάξει το πρόγραμμά του έτσι ώστε να τα τοποθετήσει όλα στο κατάλληλο μέρος και στον κατάλληλο χρόνο. Με εξαίρεση το σενάριο του Jurassic Park 4 που ακόμα δεν υπάρχει, έχει το υλικό που χρειάζεται στα χέρια του προκειμένου να μπορέσει να ξεκινήσει.

Σας λέει τίποτα το όνομα Doug Jones? Αν έχετε δει το Hellboy θα θυμάστε τον Abe Sapien. Αν έχει δει το Fantastic Four 2 θα θυμάστε τον Silver Surfer. Αν έχετε δει τον Λαβύρινθο του Πάνα, θα θυμάστε τον... Πάνα!

O Doug συμφώνησε να υποδυθεί τον Frankenstein στη νέα διασκευή της ταινίας, σε σκηνοθεσία Guillermo del Toro. Αφού βρήκαν λοιπόν τον άνθρωπο που θα ενσαρκώσει τον Φράνκενσταϊν, σε λίγες εβδομάδες θα ξεκινήσουν να δουλεύουν πάνω στο μακιγιάζ του.

Αυτό δε σημαίνει βέβαια ότι τα γυρίσματα θα ξεκινήσουν σύντομα, καθώς όπως δήλωσε ο σκηνοθέτης δεν βιάζεται καθόλου, απεναντίας, προτιμάει να κάνει αργά και σταθερά βήματα για να μην πάει τίποτα στραβά.

Θηλυκός Μποντ η Τζέσικα!

Δημοσιεύματα θέλουν την Τζέσικα Άλμπα και τον Ρόμπερτ Ροντρίγκεζ να ενώνουν (ξανά μετά το Sin City) τις δυνάμεις τους για μια πιθανή μεταφορά του γαλλικού κόμικ Insiders στη μεγάλη οθόνη. Εάν το project προχωρήσει θα δούμε τη σέξι Τζέσικα στο lead, στο ρόλο της πράκτορα Νάγια Κρουζ, που, σύμφωνα με το βασικό άξονα των Insiders, είναι Κολομβιανή, δουλεύει για το Λευκό Οίκο και καλείται να αποκαλύψει και να εξαρθρώσει ένα πανίσχυρο διεθνές δίκτυο εγκληματικής δράσης.

Στα επτά τεύχη που έχουν εκδοθεί κάτω από το συγκεκριμένο τίτλο, η όμορφη και φονική Νάγια είναι τόσο βαθιά χωμένη στον κόσμο των πρακτόρων και της παγκόσμιας διαφθοράς, που από την Τσετσενία βρίσκεται στο Αφγανιστάν και από το Κρεμλίνο στην Κίνα. Τα βάζει με πολιτικούς, με οργανισμούς-κολοσσούς, με πανίσχυρους επιχειρηματίες, με «βαρόνους», μαφιόζους, καλυμμένα ή απροκάλυπτα εγκληματικά στοιχεία παγκόσμιου βεληνεκούς. Τρέμε Τζέιμς Μποντ, δηλαδή.

Το σενάριο αναμένεται να υπογράφει ο Ζαν Κλοντ Μπαρτόλ, πρώην ρεπόρτερ-ερευνητής και συγγραφέας των κόμικς Terrorist και Mekong.

Γιατί να ενθουσιαστούμε με την προοπτική αυτή; Αν δεν ακούγαμε το όνομα του Ροντρίγκεζ στα ηνία, δε θα είχαμε τόσες προσδοκίες από μια τέτοιου είδους ταινία. Άλλωστε ως lead ή ως support, ο ρόλος της επικίνδυνης ωραίας έχει γνωρίσει διάφορες εκδοχές, άλλες με προτίμηση στο kung fu κι άλλες στα όπλα υψηλής τεχνολογίας.

Μας αρέσει όμως η ιδέα αυτής της συνεργασίας. Όχι μόνο γιατί έχει δοκιμαστεί με επιτυχία στο Sin City, όπου η Τζέσικα κρατούσε υπό τις οδηγίες του Ροντρίγκεζ το ρόλο της Νάνσι Κάλαχαν, αλλά επειδή ο σκηνοθέτης και η αγάπη του στην κουλτούρα των κόμικς, μπορεί να δώσει ένα ιδιαίτερο ύφος στο φιλμ και να μην το αφήσει να περάσει απαρατήρητο. Όσο για τη Τζέσικα; Τα φυσικά προσόντα τα διαθέτει και με λίγη εκπαίδευση μπορούμε πολύ άνετα να τη φανταστούμε στο ρόλο θηλυκού κυνηγού του εγκλήματος.

Γιατί τώρα να μην ενθουσιαστούμε; Απλώς γιατί η επίσημη επιβεβαίωση ότι οι κινηματογραφικοί Insiders θα μπουν σε τροχιά υλοποίησης, είναι ακόμα στο δρόμο.

Johnny Depp Might Have Dark Shadows in His Future

Sure, Alice in Wonderland hasn't come out yet (hell, it's not even finished), but what's coming up next for Johnny Depp? In a recent conversation with Collider, the actor revealed that his next project will most likely be the adaptation of the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. Here's the news straight from Depp: "Dark Shadows is happening. Tim [Burton] is working on Alice in Wonderland which is obviously quite a large piece of work there. So when Tim is done with Alice and we get the script, which is very, very close, in order we'll probably attack it next year. It's exciting, very exciting. It's like a lifelong dream for me."

Zack Snyder Talks 300 Sequel

Warner Bros. held a press meeting this afternoon to showcase the new immersive technology of their upcoming Watchmen and 300 Blu-rays. Zack Snyder, in addition to talking about the releases, chatted with ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! about his potential sequel to 300.

"I know for a fact that Frank [Miller] is writing right now," says Snyder, who explains that the plan is for Miller to create the story as a comic book first, "[He's] drawing away and seems to be knee-deep in it. I think he's going to head back to Greece again and do another reconnaissance."

With the first 300 having been created on a decidedly smaller budget than Watchmen, Snyder says that he probably wants the look and feel of a sequel to maintain that of 300, even though Miller's notes promise a grander scale.

"I think we would use the same technology... I don't want it to look too Star Wars-ian... Just from what [Miller] told me, it would be bigger as far as landscape and terrain. We're going to see Athens and the Aegean and other places. There would be an opportunity for bigger visions, though I'd hope for the same aesthetic. The tech we used for '300' was not a revolution. It's basically what the weatherman has. Look, instead of Accuweather it's Sparta... It's going to be the same way, but on crazier steroids."

MEGAN FOX - Η νεα LARA CROFT ??

Η Μέγκαν Φοξ είναι η βασική αντίπαλος της Τζολί στη μάχη για το ρόλο της Λάρα Κροφτ.


Η 34χρονη Τζολί έχει ήδη πρωταγωνιστήσει σε δύο ταινίες "Tomb Raider", και μάλλον θα ήθελε να συμμετέχει και στην τρίτη. Όμως επειδή η επόμενη ταινία θα αναφέρεται στα πρώτα χρόνια της ηρωίδας, οι παραγωγοί θέλουν μια νεότερη πρωταγωνίστρια. Και η κατά 11 χρόνια μικρότερή της δείχνει να πληροί όλες τις προϋποθέσεις.

Ο παραγωγός του "Tomb Raider", Νταν Λιν, δήλωσε: «Είναι μια υπέροχη ιστορία για τα πρώτα χρόνια της ηρωίδας. Θα έλεγα ότι είναι περισσότερο ρεαλιστική από τις προηγούμενες ταινίες της Λάρα Κροφτ. Δεν είναι γεμάτη δράση, θα έλεγα ότι είναι σαν το Terminator, έχει δράση που σχετίζεται με την ηρωίδα. Και μιλάει για τα πρώτα χρόνια της, οπότε θα είναι μια νεότερη Λάρα Κροφτ».

Columbia Adapting Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Columbia Pictures is developing action-adventure video game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for a feature film, setting Kyle Ward to write the adaptation that would be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner.

The Hollywood Reporter says the story follows a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is racheted up several notches when creatures -- actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis -- begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets.

The game, from Sony Computer Entertainment, sold 1 million copies in the first 10 weeks of its release at the end of 2007.

Paramount Gets Hellified

Paramount has picked up Hellified, a supernatural action script by Andy Burg, with Dan Bradley attached to direct. The Hollywood Reporter says Lorenzo di Bonaventura (upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) is on board to produce.

Hellified is known to be a supernatural action movie involving a journey to hell.

Bradley is a second-unit director and stunt coordinator-turned-director who is helming MGM's high-flying Red Dawn remake. Among his credits for action design are The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Quantum of Solace and the "Spider-Man" sequels. He also was second-unit director on Spike Jonze's upcoming Where the Wild Things Are.
