Marc Webb teases The Amazing Spider-Man 4

The future of The Amazing Spider-Man film series is quite clear, especially for the next five years. A sequel to the first film is coming out next summer with a third and fourth film already in the development stages and currently scheduled for June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018. Fans have speculated about the inclusion of a Sinister Six storyline for future sequels with director Marc Webb adding fuel to the fire, and it seems he is continuing his teasing.

In an interview with Crave Online, Webb had this to say about the proposed fourth film.

"Well, I think this was conceived of as a trilogy so there was a defined architecture to the story we were telling and we had sort of a rough outline of what was going to happen. I think [for] the fourth movie, what we've discovered is there are so many ancillary characters, that have enormous, cinematic potential that there may be other ways to exploit those characters, in a way that is exciting and fun and worthwhile. It might not just be a Spider-Man movie."

Could The Amazing Spider-Man 4 be the debut of the Sinister Six?

Paul Giamatti talks The Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

It was announced back in January that actor Paul Giamatti would be playing the role of Aleksei Sytsevich aka "The Rhino" in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Since then, photos of Giamatti on the set and in his Pre-CG suit, have surfaced online to give us an idea of what the character could potentially look like on the big screen, and it's quite different from how the character looked in the original comics.

"In the comic books of old, he had this suit on that made him look like a rhinoceros, and it made him super strong," he said in an interview with The Toronto Sun. "If there was a bank vault he would just run right through it. Butt through it with his head. And he was not very smart."

Giamatti goes on to tease that his suit in the film will be slightly updated.
"And I have a particular kind of suit, but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about it. He's a Russian mobster. Russians are always good villains. I have an ability to just destroy things. My accent is pretty hammy. I loved doing it. it seemed to me like an opportunity to be as over-the-top hammy as possible. It was really fun."

He went on to tease that he plays "One of several bad guys in the movie." Though the official announcements for the film have confirmed Rhino and Electro as antagonists, Giamatti talks as if there are more.

Closer look at the Green Goblin from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 poster?

Last week, a new poster for Sony's upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was spotted out in the wild, and on that poster were not one but three villains, including Jamie Foxx as Electro, the full version of Paul Giamatti's The Rhino, and what appears to be the Green Goblin on his glider. Now, thanks to Twitter user @Tupacca we have what appears to be a clearer look at the character and it certainly looks more like Dane DeHaan (who plays Harry Osborn in the film) instead of Chris Cooper (who took on the role of Norman Osborn). Check it out below!

New images and excerpt from Hans Zimmer's score from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Following the trailer reveal for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this morning, Sony has updated the official website for the movie with some brand new character shots and images from the film. When visiting the site, you can also hear a taste of what is likely Hans Zimmer's score for the sequel. Check it all out by clicking here and take a look at the photos in hi-res below.

In addition, hidden in the details of the site, is a cast listing for the film that lists Colm Feore as playing "Donald Menken" in the sequel. Menken served as a personal assistant to Norman Osborn in the original comics and given the character's sickness in the film series, it seems likely Menken will be in a similar position.

Andrew Garfield might not return for The Amazing Spider-Man 4

Sony Pictures surprised the world when they set a release date not only for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 but also The Amazing Spider-Man 4. Now it seems that announcement may have been jumping the gun as Peter Parker himself, Andrew Garfield, says he isn't sure about a fourth go around as the character.

"I mean I’m under contract for another one after this… as far as a fourth one? That's not anything to do with me," he told Yahoo!. "But yeah, I think what we’re doing here is we've established the world. And now we get to really play inside that world."

Garfield also elaborated on how they've expanded the second film from what they set up in the first saying:

"I think there was something missing in the first one because our focus wasn't on character as much we were trying to keep a number of plates spinning in the air – How can we reintroduce the character? How do we not upset this guy or this guy? That was a tough wasteland we had to move through. Now we could say, 'who is this guy?' How can we best serve Spider-Man?'"

Sony Pictures announces Spider-Man spinoffs Venom and Sinister Six

In a move said "to forge a new legacy in the story of Peter Parker on screen," Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that they will, in association with Marvel Entertainment, develop several new projects in the Spider-Man franchise, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard to collaborate on overseeing the developing story over several films that will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

The five writers, along with the two producers and Marc Webb, have formed a franchise brain trust to expand the universe for the brand and to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films. Under the deals, the studio announced that Kurtzman & Orci & Pinkner are writing the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which the studio hopes Webb will return to direct. That film will go into production next fall for release on June 10, 2016. In addition, the team will build on the cinematic foundation laid by Webb, Arad, and Tolmach in the first two movies. They will expand the franchise with Kurtzman & Orci & Solomon writing the screenplay for Venom, which Kurtzman will direct. Goddard, then, will write with an eye to direct, The Sinister Six, focusing on the villains in the franchise. Hannah Minghella and Rachel O’Connor will oversee the development and production of these films for the studio.

Commenting on the announcement, Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures said, “The Spider-Man film franchise is one of our studio’s greatest assets. We are thrilled with the creative team we have assembled to delve more deeply into the world that Marc, Avi and Matt have begun to explore in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'. We believe that Marc, Alex, and Drew have uniquely exciting visions for how to expand the Spider-Man universe in each of these upcoming films.”

Arad and Tolmach added, “This collaboration was born out of the great experience we and Marc had working with Alex, Bob, and Jeff on 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'. With more than fifty years’ wealth of stories in the comic books to draw upon for inspiration, the Spider-Man universe is truly boundless; in addition, the Spider-Man comics have the greatest rogues gallery of any series, and to have the chance to explore that on film is truly thrilling. Until now, we have approached each film as a separate, self-contained entity, but with this move, we have the opportunity to grow the franchise by looking to the future as we develop a continuous arc for the
story. That is what Alex, Bob, Jeff, Ed, and Drew will do in this unprecedented collaboration, and we’re excited about the directions they are taking the character and the world.”

Dane DeHaan talks Harry Osborn's character arc in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Sony's upcoming sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will see not only the debut of some fan-favorite villains, such as Electro and The Rhino, but also one of the most important supporting characters in the Spider-Man mythos, Harry Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan. Speaking with Digital Spy about the sequel, DeHaan shed some light on what Harry's arc will be like in the film.

"When you first meet Harry he's just graduated from high school, and he has to come back to New York to help deal with Oscorp, and its legacy, and his father [Norman Osborn, played by Chris Cooper]. He also sees Peter Parker for the first time in a long time; they were childhood friends. So it's really about Harry having a friendship with Peter and an allegiance to Peter, but also being the heir apparent to Oscorp, and having to deal with that.

"It's becoming very obvious that all of these villains are originating from within Oscorp, in one way or the other. There are things that Harry feels he owes Peter, and things he needs from Peter, there are things he feels he needs from Spider-Man, and then there's his responsibility to Oscorp. It's a very complicated storyline, really cool and dynamic."

Based on the teases seen in the trailer for the film, which seemingly reveal DeHaan as the Green Goblin, we imagine things are going to be even more complicated than he is letting on.
