Karousel, Linn’s new precision-engineered single-point bearing, offers smoother rotation and greater stability for even better sound from your Sondek LP12.

This innovative new take on our original bearing design has been made possible by technological developments in material science, machining capabilities and mechanical engineering expertise gained from almost half a century of designing and manufacturing the world’s best turntable. That vital union between the platter, spindle, bearing and sub-chassis is now the strongest we’ve ever achieved.

A new diamond-like carbon coating inside the bearing reduces friction between the tip of the spindle and the base of the bearing itself. This reduces the ‘noise floor’ of the turntable, so improves musical reproduction.

The substantial lock-nut fastening on the stainless steel housing increases rigidity at the critical point where bearing and sub-chassis come together. Granted the Anna D and some other costly MC cartridges have seriously powerful magnets and so magnify this problem, if you have a gauge of this kind with any brand label on it, be sure to check out the interaction between the cartridge and the gauge as seen below.

Sometimes, Things Aren't How They Appear....

After watching the video showing the Revolv VTF gauge react to the Anna D stylus, SAT's Marc Gomez sent me this analysis:
"Looking at your video of the scale reacting to the Anna I feel compelled to comment. I believe the metal platform is aluminum and non-magnetic. Nevertheless, as the magnet of the Anna is very strong, the movement (velocity) of the magnet getting closer or away from the aluminum platform creates electromagnetic induction in the platform - pushing it down when getting closer and pulling it up when moving away (negative reading in scale). It only happens when you have relative velocity between the magnet and the conductive part (Lenz law). It is not due to the magnetic attraction. It will not affect the correct reading of static VTF once the stylus rests on the platform."
He added: "The reading of 2,6-2,7g in the Revolv scale compared to the 2,4g in your scale is due to the higher position of the platform on the Revolv, which makes the arm exert a bit more VTF as stated on the instructions."
I think what he posits makes sense. More than do I sometimes......

Δυστυχώς είναι μόδα, οι περισσότεροι από αυτούς δεν έχουν ιδέα από ηχητική πιστότητα και νομίζουν ότι ο ήχος του βινυλίου είναι καλύτερος, ζεστός κλπ. Καλύτερα που δεν έχουν πικάπ κάποιοι γιατί με κάτι συστήματα που βλέπω online λυπάμαι τους δίσκους (αμφιβάλλω πόσο ρυθμισμένα είναι) αλλά και τι ακούνε αυτοί. Τα ηχεία αφημένα όπου να ναι...ενισχυτές 30 watt αλλά και άλλων τόσο χρόνων... Είναι λυπηρό να διαβάζω σχόλια από κάτι τέτους τύπους για τον καταπληκτικό αναλογικό ήχο!!!

TechDAS Air Force V Premium

Μοιάζει πολύ με το προηγούμενο μοντέλο, αλλά υπάρχουν σημαντικές διαφορές.


Δηλαδή έχουμε και εδώ ανάρτηση αέρα και σύστημα «συγκράτησης και σύσφιξης» του δίσκου στο πλατό με αντλία κενού. Η κύρια διαφορά του νέου πικάπ έχει να κάνει με την κατασκευή που τοποθετείται ο δίσκος. Η βάση είναι από μασίφ αλουμίνιο τύπου 5052 βάρους 19 κιλών.

Το εσωτερικό πλατό είναι από μαύρο αλουμίνιο βάρους 4 κιλών και στο εξωτερικό πλατό από ασημί αλουμίτη βάρους 3 κιλών. Δηλαδή το πλατό ζυγίζει 7 κιλά. Αυτό αύξησε το βάρος της στα σε 26 κιλά (η κανονική έκδοση ζυγίζει 18 κιλά) στο οποίο πρέπει να προσθέσουμε άλλα 9 κιλά που ζυγίζει η αντλία αέρα. Η ροπή αδράνειας της συσκευής φτάνει τα 734 kg / cm², ενώ η απόκλιση από την ταχύτητα περιστροφής δεν υπερβαίνει το 0,03%.

Η κίνηση γίνεται με ιμάντα διπλής όψης, ο κινητήρας είναι AC τετραπολικός που ελέγχεται με ψηφιακό τρόπο για ακρίβεια των στροφών. Ο σύγχρονος αυτός κινητήρας είναι τοποθετημένος στο σασί μέσω ενός βελτιστοποιημένου συστήματος κατά των κραδασμών
