ο βραχίονας πολλαπλών συνδέσμων 5A της Reed.

Ο 5A είναι ο νεώτερος βραχίονας εφαπτομενικής γεωμετρίας της Reed και, σε αντίθεση με μεγαλύτερο μοντέλο, 5Τ, το οποίο χρησιμοποιεί ηλεκτρικό κινητήρα για το τράκινγκ, βασίζεται σε έναν παθητικό μηχανισμό πολλαπλών συνδέσμων ώστε να εξασφαλίσει ελαχιστοποίηση του σφάλματος ανάγνωσης χωρίς τα προβλήματα της παράλληλης μετατόπισης.

Οι επιδόσεις του 5A σε θέματα γεωμετρίας, με βάση τα δημοσιευμένα χαρακτηριστικά, είναι εντυπωσιακές με το σφάλμα ανάγνωσης να μην ξεπερνά τα ±4 πρώτα λεπτά της μοίρας (όταν ένας καλός ακτινικός βραχίονας κινείται μεταξύ 1-2°, ενώ, όπως και οι βραχίονες παράλληλης μετατόπισης, δεν απαιτεί ρυθμίσεις υπερκρέμασης και γωνίας εκτροπής για να ελαχιστοποιηθεί το σφάλμα ανάγνωσης, ούτε απαιτεί εφαρμογή δύναμης αντιολίσθησης. Ο μηχανισμός πολλαπλών συνδέσμων που ελέγχει το στέλεχος του βραχίονα χρησιμοποιεί κεραμικά ρουλμάν και επιφάνειες τριβής από πολύ σκληρό υλικό (σάπφειρο/καρβίδιο του μολυβδαινίου)

Ο 5A προσφέρει ρύθμιση του VTA και του αζιμουθίου της κεφαλής και η ενεργός μάζα του μπορεί να ρυθμιστεί ανάλογα με το υλικό του στελέχους, μεταξύ 8 και 16 γραμμαρίων (υπάρχουν πέντε διαφορετικά στελέχη, όλα από κάποιο είδος ξυλείας). Μπορεί να τοποθετηθεί σε πλατό με μέγιστη διάμετρο 330 χιλιοστών και ύψος μεταξύ 26 και 46 χιλιοστών. Το καλώδιο επιλέγεται από τον χρήστη (υπάρχουν οκτώ διαθέσιμα, βασισμένα σε χαλκό και άργυρο) ενώ μπορεί να παραδοθεί και με συμβατικό mini-DIN ώστε να χρησιμοποιηθούν καλώδια τρίτων κατασκευαστών. Το headshell μπορεί να είναι της Reed ή συμβατικό, τύπου SME. Τα διαθέσιμα φινιρίσματα είναι λευκό μεταλλικό (Seashell white) και μαύρο

η δομή αφήνει σοβαρές υποσχέσεις για ένα ανάλογης ποιότητας προϊόν με κανονική διαθεσιμότητα και, ίσως, άλλη τιμή. Αν μου έπεφτε λόγος, θα έδινα το πράσινο φως για μια τέτοια εξέλιξη

Δεν νομίζω να έχει λόγο να κάνει η Dual κάτι τέτοιο. Θα πουλούσε πάνω από 100 κομμάτια; Αμφιβάλλω. Τώρα το ονόμασε συλλεκτικό και θα πουλήσει 100 σίγουρα (και σε τσιμπημένη τιμή).

Bang & Olufsen Re-Releasing Classic Turntable Design from 1972
The Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition was created by refurbishing old models

Bang & Olufsen has undertaken a very unusual task: They tracked down and purchased 95 surviving models of their Beogram turntable, which was first released in 1972. All of them were shipped back to their original factory in Denmark, where B&O's engineers cleaned and refurbished all of them, to be re-sold as the Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition.

The turntables have been disassembled and thoroughly inspected by a team of skilled engineers. Every component is painstakingly cleaned, new parts are added where needed – from the smallest ball bearings all the way up to the drive belt – ensuring lasting performance. Once this process is complete, each Beogram is individually tested then fine-tuned to meet Bang & Olufsen's exacting specifications.

Interestingly, it appears B&O's engineers were able to take advantage of something their predecessors had left behind for them in the 1970s: Extra space within the turntable's housing. "When Beogram 4000 was first created in the early 1970s, the original design team sought to make an obsolescence-proof product by leaving space in the internal architecture for additional technology upgrades," the company writes. "In the restoration process, Bang & Olufsen's engineers have taken advantage of this foresight and added an RIAA phono pre-amplifier, allowing the turntable to be connected to modern speakers using a phono or 3.5mm line-level connection."

Each refurbished Beogram has also been wrapped in a new oak frame, and had new dust lids added.

The first units will go on sale later this month--in Europe only.
