Morgan Freeman May Join Bruce Willis In The Big-Screen Version of Warren Ellisʼ Brutal, Genius Graphic Novel RED

The story deals with a retired black-ops CIA operative surprised one day by a high-tech assassin determined to kill him.

Bruce Willis is reportedly aboard as the main character, but thereʼs still no word of a director. Erich & Jon Hoeber (the Kate Beckinsale Antarctica thriller "Whiteout," due in September) penned the script.

Modern Soldiers -vs- Historical Warrior Dudes!! ARENA Has A Director Now...

In April 2008, we learned that Summit Entertainment had picked up a script called ARENA by writers Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell (HERE) .

Now comes word that the film is inching closer to actually happening, with the involvement of director Jeff Wadlow (NEVER BACK DOWN, CRY WOLF, and the perpetually in pre-production POINT BREAK sequel ).


"Arena" revolves around a group of modern-day soldiers transported to a shifting landscape, where they are forced to face off against the best warriors from different eras in gladitorial battle. Frosh scribes Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell wrote the screenplay, which Summit optioned in April 2008.

Nicolas Cage in Talks for The Green Hornet

Columbia Pictures is in early talks with Nicolas Cage to play the gangster villain in The Green Hornet, reports Variety.

Cameron Diaz is negotiating to play a reporter and love interest in the Michel Gondry-directed film that stars Seth Rogen as the masked crime fighter.

The picture is moving full steam ahead for a fall start date, even as the studio looks to replace Stephen Chow, who was going to play sidekick Kato. Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script and Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Films.

The Green Hornet is targeting a July 9, 2010 release

Sam Raimi to Direct the World of Warcraft Movie!

Ain't It Cool News have landed a huge scoop today. They're reporting that the beloved Evil Dead and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi will be directing a movie based on World of Warcraft. This movie has been "in the works" ever since the game became the all-time greatest MMORPG, however we haven't heard anything about it in a while. In fact, our last update on this was late last year, in which Blizzard's president Mike Morhaime did at least say that "there are still plans for a World of Warcraft movie" but that the script was still being developed. Now it looks like things have finally fallen into place.

If you're still too shocked to believe this news, well, Variety just confirmed it as well, so it's not just a rumor. "At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story," Raimi said in a statement. The current plan is for Raimi to supervise the development of the World of Warcraft movie over the next few years and to shoot it after he finishes Spider-Man 4, which is scheduled for 2011. Legendary and Blizzard Entertainment are producing, with Warner Brothers distributing. In addition to hiring the director of Spider-Man, the studio has added The Dark Knight producer Charles Roven to the creative mix. This is going to be an epic movie!

My first impression is that this is great news, unquestionably so. They could have easily gotten any number of incapable directors, ranging from Uwe Boll to Stephen Sommers, but they chose to go with someone who, I believe, is truly a great filmmaker. Beyond that, he has a lot of experience working with "monsters", which there are plenty of in the World of Warcraft universe. Legendary's Thomas Tull previously said they were "looking for someone of Zak Snyder (300) or Chris Nolan (The Dark Knight) calibre." Looks like they found him! Three-Part Bruce Lee Biopic in the Works

Variety says that a three-part biopic about martial arts king Bruce Lee is being made in cooperation with the family of Hong Kong's most famous native son, who died 36 years ago this week.

The family is working with China's J.A. Media on Bruce Lee, which will start shooting in October with Tony Leung Ka-fai as Lee's father. Additional cast and director have not yet been set.

However, filmmaker Zhang Yimou has said many times that he is keen to shoot a film of Lee's life.

The first part is scheduled for release on Nov. 27, 2010, the 70th anniversary of Lee's birth.

Λυκάνθρωποι, μάγοι και μάγισσες, βρυκόλακες, τέρατα, ζόμπι,φαντάσματα, παράλληλοι κόσμοι.. χαμός γίνεται στο "Dark shadows", την gothic σαπουνόπερα του 1966, η οποία είχε τόσο επιτυχία, που έμεινε να στοιχειώνει τις οθόνες απέναντι από τον καναπέ και το κρεβάτι, μέχρι το 1971. Μετάφραση σε αριθμό επεισοδίων: 1225. Επίσης -πάντα αναφέρονται αυτά για να δείτε τις ταινίες και τις σειρές μ' άλλο μάτι- ο Τιμ Μπάρτον, ο Τζόνι Ντεπ και η Μαντόνα δηλώνουν φανατικοί θαυμαστές.

Είδες τι σου κάνουν τα όνειρα; Ο Νταν Κέρτις είδε στον ύπνο του ένα κορίτσι να παίρνει ένα τρένο με προορισμό ένα τεράστιο spoky καστροειδές σπίτι και του ήρθε η ιδέα της δημιουργίας του "Dark Shadows". Και τότε ο Αρτ Γουάλας ανέλαβε να πει στον κόσμο τι συμβαίνει σ αυτό το σπίτι,δηλαδή να γράψει τα σενάρια της τηλεοπτικής σειράς φτιάχνοντας μια ομάδα από χαρακτήρες που έμειναν στην καλτ ιστορία. Με αγαπημένο όλων τον βρυκόλακα Barnavas Collins με τον οποίο ο Ντεπ είχε τόσο μεγάλη εμμονή όταν ήταν μικρός που ήθελε να του μοιάσει!

Όχι δεν σας κάνουμε κανένα trivia μάθημα και δεν αναφέρθηκε τυχαία το όνομα του Ντεπ. Ο μποέμ ηθοποιός, αποφάσισε να γίνει παραγωγός του remake του "Dark Shadows", αλλά μέχρι τώρα δεν ξέραμε ποιος θα είναι ο σκηνοθέτης και ο σεναριογράφος. Ώσπου ανακοινώθηκε πως η αγία τριάδα του "Ο Τσάρλι και το εργοστάσιο σοκολάτας" και της "Νεκρής νύφης", συμφωνησαν να βρεθούν πίσω από όλο αυτο κι ενώνουν τα χέρια και φωνάζουν όπως οι ομάδες πριν από τον αγώνα. Τιμ Μπάρτον, Τζον Όγκοστ και ο Τζόνι Ντεπ φυσικά. Ε και ας υπολογίσουμε και την Έλενα Μπόναμ Κάρτερ γιατί δε νομίζουμε να λείπει από ένα τέτοιο φιλμ!

Εγινε σημερα η επισημη ανακοινωση οτι θα αρχισει γυρισματα ο Μπαρτον το 2010 !!!

James Wan Writing and Directing Castlevania for Paul W.S. Anderson

James Wan, one of the two masterminds behind Saw and the director of Dead Silence and Death Sentence, will be co-writing and directing Castlevania for producer Paul W.S. Anderson (via Bloody-Disgusting). For a long while, Sylvain White had been attached to direct this, but now its landed in Wan's lap. Yes, we know that Paul W.S. Anderson is involved in this, so it might not be that amazing, but I do expect Wan to do a great job with it, at least. "I'm very fresh on this project, so its early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it," Wan said.

"I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami is very excited about," he says. In addition to the announcement, Wan gave Bloody-Disgusting a concept teaser poster, which we gave you a tease of above, and talked a bit more about why he loves the games. "The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility." Castlevania first debuted on the Famicom in 1986 and was later ported to the NES in 1987.

Το φθινόπωρο η ταινία για τον Jackson;

Η ταινία για τη ζωή του Michael Jackson θα προβληθεί στους αμερικανικούς κινηματογράφους στις 30 Οκτωβρίου, πριν το Σαββατοκύριακο της γιορτής του Χάλογουιν, σύμφωνα με τα πρόσφατα δημοσιεύματα.

Πηγές του Hollywood ανακοίνωσαν πως γνωστό κινηματογραφικό στούντιο και η εταιρία που είχε αναλάβει τις συναυλίες του Jackson στο Λονδίνο, έκλεισαν συμφωνία ύψους 60 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων. Στην ταινία θα περιλαμβάνονται και βίντεο από τις τελευταίες πρόβες του Jackson πριν τον θάνατό του στις 25 Ιουνίου.

Γνωστό περιοδικό έγραψε πως την σκηνοθεσία της ταινίας έχει αναλάβει ο Kenny Ortega, σκηνοθέτης των ταινιών High-School Musical.

Από την πλευρά του ο ειδικός σε θέματα Hollywood αρθρογράφος Roger Friedman υπογράμμισε πως το 90% των εισπράξεων από την προβολή της ταινίας θα δοθούν στη μητέρα και τα παιδιά του τραγουδιστή, αλλά και στο ίδρυμα με το όνομά του και το 10% θα πάει στην εταιρία που είχε αναλάβει τις συναυλίες

Slumdog millionaire α λα (νοτιο) αφρικάνικα

Τα γυρίσματα ολοκληρώθηκαν μέσα σε ένα μήνα, ενώ τα χρήματα που ξοδεύτηκαν για την παραγωγή του δεν ξεπέρασαν τις 410.000 ευρώ. Πρόκειται για το «iZulu Lami», το οποίο στα αγγλικά μεταφράζεται σε «My Secret Sky», ή πιο απλά, την νοτιοαφρικάνικη εκδοχή του «Slumdog Millionaire»!...

Και σε αυτή την περίπτωση το φιλμ ακολουθεί κατά πόδας το ταξίδι και τις δυσκολίες δύο μικρών παιδιών, της Thembi, ενός κοριτσιού ηλικίας δέκα ετών, και του οκτάχρονου αδερφού της, που μετά το θάνατο της μητέρας τους αποφάσισαν να εγκαταλείψουν την παραγκούπολη που ζούσαν και να πάνε στην πόλη.

Η 11χρονη Sobahle Mkhabase, που υποδύεται το ρόλο της Thembi -όπως ανέφερε χαρακτηριστικά ο «Guardian»- δεν είναι παρά ένα από τα επτά παιδιά που παίζουν στην ταινία και εντυπωσίασαν με τις υποκριτικές τους ικανότητες, τα οποία όμως μέχρι πρότινος ζούσαν στις παραγκουπόλεις της Νότιας Αφρικής.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως η μικρή ήδη έχει κερδίσει το βραβείο της καλύτερης γυναίκας ηθοποιού στο κινηματογραφικό φεστιβάλ Tarifa που γίνεται στην Ισπανία, όπου το «My Secret Sky» -επίσης- τιμήθηκε.

Len Wiseman Takes on Shrapnel

The Hollywood Reporter says that Len Wiseman will develop and direct a film adaptation of the graphic novel "Shrapnel" for Radical Pictures.

The graphic novel describes a sci-fi future where humans have colonized the solar system and formed a Solar Alliance to govern the planets. The story focuses on Venus, the last rebellious holdout, and a self-exiled former Marine who teaches the colonists how to fight back.

Στη μεγάλη οθόνη μεταφέρεται το «World of Warcraft»

Ο σκηνοθέτης Σάμ Ράιμι, γνωστός από τις ταινίας του Spider-Man ανέλαβε το δύσκολο, αλλά και συναρπαστικό έργο της μεταφοράς στη μεγάλη οθόνη του παιχνιδιού «World of Warcraft», ενός από τα πιο γνωστά στον κόσμο.

Η εταιρίες Blizzard Entertainment Inc. και Legendary Pictures ανακοίνωσαν χθες την συμφωνία με τον Ράιμι που θα προσπαθήσει να ζωντανέψει τον μυστηριώδη και σκοτεινό κόσμο του Αζεροθ.

Το «Warcraft» κυκλοφόρησε για πρώτη φορά το 1994 ως παιχνίδι στρατηγικής και δέκα χρόνια αργότερα έγινε βιντεοπαιχνίδι με τίτλο «World of Warcraft», καταφέρνοντας να γραφτεί στο Ρεκόρ Γκίνες ως το πιο δημοφιλές παιχνίδι on line με περισσότερους από 11,5 εκατομμύρια παίκτες το μήνα.

«Στον πυρήνα του το Warcraft είναι μια ιστορία φαντασίας και δράσης. Είμαι ενθουσιασμένος που το ανέλαβα», τόνισε ο Ράιμι.

Μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχει ανακοινωθεί καμιά λεπτομέρειες για το καστ της ταινίας, την παραγωγή της οποίας ανέλαβε ο Τσάρος Ρόβεν, γνωστός από την ταινία του Μπάτμαν «Ο Σκοτεινός Ιππότης».

1. Resident Evil: Afterlife Coming in 3D!

ShockTillYouDrop.com talked exclusively to Paul W.S. Anderson, who revealed that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be released in 3D and will kick-off a new trilogy!

Anderson, who will write and direct, said that the fourth film in the franchise will have the largest budget of all the films so far.

Milla Jovovich will return as Alice in "Afterlife," opening September 17, 2010. You can also expect some returning characters from the previous films and new characters from the video games

2. Pirates 4 Starts Shooting Spring '10!

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told that they were working on a script, but Aviv and Disney are definitely on board as we learned when we discovered that they have plans to be rolling film on the movie as early as next year.



"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year," Aviv told us during our interview. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy."

"It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," Aviv admitted. "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." He agreed that there is a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen yet without confirming or denying that we might see some of that in the fourth movie. Still no word on whether Gore Verbinski might come back for the fourth movie.

SDCC Exclusive: Wanted 2 to Start Shooting in 8 Weeks


Superhero Hype! talked to Mark Millar at the San Diego Comic-Con and were told that the script for Wanted 2 is done and shooting should begin within eight weeks. Timur Bekmambetov is returning to direct while James McAvoy will again play Wesley Gibson.

Gary Oldman just announced at the Warner Bros. Book of Eli panel that a third Batman film will go into production next year.
